Has anyone tried this? It’s been something I’m wanting to try and I was wondering about peoples experiences with it. I’m thinking it’ll take a little work though to visualize what it’ll be like underwater.
I’ve done it a few times for fun, only i’ve done it differently than in real life. The first time i swam in a LD i was a dolphin swimming through the water, the second time i had an ND and i was a mermaid.
It worked out quite well Though as a creature that could stay underwater for a long period of time, water seemed to be space with plants fish and resistence because there was no sensation of Gravity
I’m a better swimming in my lucid dreams than in real life! I can swim just like in real life, but I don’t tire when I’m dreaming. Being underwater is interesting as well, I don’t feel any pressure on my body, and I can breathe just fine. It’s like I have an air bubble over my nose and mouth.
Just get in the water when you want to try it! Your mind will guess anyways when you try.
I remember twice, it was in an LD where I ended up in far north Norway I was at the coast and thought why not, I can jump down into water
I did that and it was a different feeling
In another LD I painted a pool because I felt for a swim then I got down into water and I didnt even want to get up to surface
I almost drowned in a ND once
Haha, Yeah, swimming in dreams is cool.
Easier than in real life, actually. Gotta love doing acrobatics and such ^^
Whenever I try to swim in a lucid dream, i feel that there is a huge weight on my back and it forces me into the water and I wake up. I dont like swimming in LDs anymore
My experience with swimming in LD’s is that it’s exactly the same as real life!
Well, with the exception of being able to breathe underwater or being able to swim deeper. Breathing underwater has also proven to be a good DS.
I suppose if I wanted to make swimming in LD’s more entertaining than in real life, I could turn into a fish or sea serpent or something. Or perhaps become the water itself.
All in all though, I’d rather fly.
I love swimming in dreams, it’s one of the first things that I could do really well in LD’s when I was really young and still trying to find my wings The sensation is awesome and there’s something really refreshing about breathing underwater.
Underwater dreams are also a great time to try out transformation, the first transformations I ever did were water dragon type creatures It was good fun.
Hey, here’s a thought, what about people who aren’t strong swimmers IRL? Do you find that it’s easier or even harder in LD’s? Maybe LD’s can help you gain confidence in the water? Worth a shot maybe? grins
I swam in lucid dreams before I could swim in real life. I learned the movements when I was around 8, but I could couldn’t keep myself afloat. I remember swimming in some lucid dreams before I learned how to swim more properly, at 10 years old.
Maybe the lucid practice helped me? I don’t know, I’ve never thought about that before…
Wow, that’s amazing. So do you reckon it simply gave you more confidence that you could do it… or do you really think the practice helped?
I’m not sure, it could be both.
Actually, I have a funny story about that… One night when I was around 9-10, and I was sleeping over at a friend’s place, I had a lucid dream where I was standing by a lawn outside my garden. The lawn turned into a large pond. A boy approached me, and mocked me and said that I couldn’t swim. I knew that I was dreaming, so I couldn’t drown while trying. So I told him: “Yes, I can, just watch!” I hopped into the water, and I swam across the lake while laughing. I then got out of the lake, and I woke up. When I woke up, I opened my eyes to find my friend awake and giggling. She said that I had just been sitting up on the mattress I was sleeping on, saying out loud: “Yes, I can, just watch!” and then proceeded to do swimming movements while laughing. We both found this experience highly amusing, and I still remember it.
