Hi all, I think of LDing alot all day long and even more so before I sleep to try and ‘induce’ LDs. But 3 nights ago after about 6 months since I started I decided to just let go but not give up on LDing. I created a mindset to allow my mind to dream whatever it wants to and go to sleep as though I never knew about LDs. Then in the second dream nearer to the morning, I did tell myself that what if this was a dream. This has happened before in the past where I sorta lose my grip on LDing. So I guess I’m a reverse logic person which is also true of other things btw that appear in my dreams. Anyone has this before?
I know a few people have, myself included. Sometimes taking a break can be more refreshing and helpful.
It’s like having to do this big project and coming across a problem. You can search and search for the solution and just not see it. Finally you goto bed and come back in the morning and you see the answer straight away.
What’s happening is that you are giving yourself/your brain/subconscious time to organise the information you have, so when you come back to it what you know is more accessible in a way that is helpful and allows you to see what you were previously missing.
In the same manner I think it effects LDing; you try so hard, possibly too hard, that you are effectively putting more and more into your mind about what you are trying to do that you end up clogging yourself up. Or try doing too much at once such as trying several new techniques at the same time.
Your brain needs time to process all this, so you need to take it step by step slowly or give your brain a time off by not attempting it for a few days. Your brain can then sort all this out while you sleep or do other things and you find you end up having small lucid experiences like realisation you are dreaming without trying at that point.
I think these time outs are a necessary step for people who are starting out, just to help them make sense of what they are learning.
Thats the same way I write math tests. If you don’t see the answers right away, move on and come back later. Interestingly enough, upon returning to the question, its doable.
