taking pics of Nature. I need some advice Possible UFO

Well Ive combined my love for walking with taking pics of nature. Ive taken some really good pics in the day, and now that September is coming Im hoping to capture some more. Ill show them to you if I can figure out how to upload them. Anyway Im wanting to take some night time pics of the moon, but they allways come out crappy. I have a digital camara thats pretty decent, but I just cant get good night pics. Im planning on a 15 mile hike in September, and Im taking my Camra with me. So if you have any advice on taking night pics, or any other advice.

some cameras have “night mode” D: that’s all i can really think of :meh:

You need to set the shutter so it will stay open for a longer period of time. You should also use a tripod if you have your camera shutter open for long periods.

Basically, the camera works by letting light through the lens… the more light you have the faster your shutter speed should be. The less light you have… then obviously, you need to leave the shutter open longer to allow sufficient light to get through. Hence, having a tripod keeps your camera steady… sometimes you might have to leave it open for 3 or 4 seconds?!

Well… thats just the very basics…experiment with the shutter speeds before you go on your hike. Enjoy! :content:

tiny unfortunate typo corrected

I think I just need to get a better camra. This does have night mode, but it still slopy looking. thanks Ill expirament a little.

Yes, taking photos at night isn’t easy.
You cannot take good pictures if you’re holding the camera with your hands.

You need to keep it steady (which means it should be on a tripod or a wall…I recommend a tripod, since you can’t rotate the wall) and after a somewhat longer exposure, the photo should come out well.

Simply put, it needs to be really still or it will be blurry.

if its really dark first you need a tripod, but even then if you want a crystal clear photo you can remotely trigger your camera to take a photo. you need a device to do it which will cost money so unless you are only gonna take a few pictures of the dark, i wouldnt bother. you also need to go to a very slow shutter speed to allow for the shutter to absorb the correct amount of light. lastly there is something called an ISO button which changes the cameras sensitivity to light. the higher the ISO the more sensitive the camera, and therefore the brighter the picture. i am not sure if all cameras adjustable ISO settings, but if yours does, be sure to use it.

I wish I knew how to upload the pics I took today, because I got some really good ones. This one of a grasshoper on a tree limb Im really proud of. Ill see if I can figure it out latter, and show you. I give up on taking night pics until I get a better camara. I think I allso may have got a pic of a UFO, if it is a UFO its the kind you can only see if you snap a pic of, because they move so fast. Maybie you can help me here. I have the memory card in the computer, and it copys it when I right click on it, but it wont paste it. What do I do?

you would need to host it somewhere first
either photobucket or imageshack
you would get prompted to browse your computer and choose the image
once it is hosted you will be able to use it on forums etc by using [img]
