Thank you in advance for your possible help, as well as for your time reading this post
One night I tested a spiruline pill, another night a 125mg of tryptophan, and another night 250mg of vitamin B6. None of the nights did I experience a more vivid dream than usualy. I know this for certain because I have at least 20 dreams per day, and with so many dreams not to experience at least one more vivid is indicative of the inneficiency of these products on me. What do you think is the deal? How much do you suggest I should take of either spiruline either tryptophan either vitamin B6 for a noticable vividity-increase ?
Do I understand correctly that you only tried once with every supplement? If so, I think that might be the reason.
As far as I understand supplements, they trigger different reactions in the brain. But the thing is that you get all kinds of different things in your system with foods and drinks you consume during the day, so it is also possible that you ate/drank something to exclude the effects of the supplements.
I would suggest that you try with a diet - you only use one type of supplements for some time (say a week for example). Also pay attention to what you’re eating/drinking.
As far as the dosages go, we 're all different, so the best way to figure it out is to experiment with it by yourself.
I was going to say what nightEagle said. To get accurate results you need to be more consistent in your testing, so make a plan or something to take tryptophan for a week or two. If you find it’s not producing any difference to your dreaming then test out B6 for a week or two, etc. If you start noticing a difference then you could try using it for a longer period of time to get a better indication of what’s happening.
Of course, make sure you know if any supplements will cause side effects overtime
Testing vitamins and drugs to enhance or change dream perception cannot be done by taking it once. To really test drugs you need to set a period of at least two weeks in which you track these things:
Amount of sleep each night;
Daily routine (specifically: what did you do before you went to bed);
Food intake (especially when trying vitamins);
Stressors from school/ work/ other (these can influence sleep);
Other drugs you take;
All these things (and more) can create differences in experiences. And even then you test it only in your specific case in a very specific set of cirumstances. Be aware of this when trying to get a sort of scientific evidence.
