I came up with this idea when my Computer lagged when I ran a game.
I have heard people say that we use a very small amount of our mental capacity. Well in dreams we create intricate worlds that I personally cannot recreate in my mind now. I think that we use the true abilities of our mind while dreaming. This is because in an LD the DC s have complex intelligence and can respond to anything I do. This is quite impossible to do on a computer because of the fact since I’m lucid I can do virtually anything.
Also most importantly have you ever woke up to realize that the noise that was part of a dream was really happening in real life. Even someone speaking. I mean for our brain to improvise like that without creating a huge dream sign is amazing.
I believe that the reason our dreams can be so complex and real is because of the lack of outside input, Our brain creates the world around us that we see from input it receives, with the lack of input it creates it’s own. (Spend a day in a sensory deprivation tank and you’ll see)
It can be hard to do arithmetic in dreams because our frontal lobe is generally lagged to a crawl (not shut down, no never) so unless we are in a very realistic lucid dream it would be difficult.
I know for myself, if I put my head down on this desk and focus I can create a mental picture rivaling that of the real world, it’s just that during dreaming I don’t have to, my Sub-conscious does it for me

Yes I once fell asleep with my dad watching Nascar so I dreamt of nascar.
I’ve read someone saying that he tryed solving a hard equation in a dream and that it worked… I think all these things people say are impossible or never happen in dreams are very relative… I think it depends on the person and what he wants/believes/expects/etc…
Anyway, about the power of the brain, I’ve thought of that once. Don’t know if it’s true, but I like the idea. Our sub-consciousness seems to be so much more increadible, powerful and mysterious than we could ever imagine…
Well, that depands. Some equations are intuitive (10=5x is a simple one) even if they are hard. Plus, did that person check it IRL? You may believe an equation is solved in dream, while it will actually be non-sense.
Yeah, I think he checked it in RL. And it was a hard equation, one he couldn’t do while awake. I’m just saying what I read, if it’s actually true or not, I don’t know…
I’ll try to find it.
EDIT: ok, found it. And it’s not exactly what I remembered… my bad.
“(…) but i have done advanced algerba and other math in my dreams. TVM etc etc. I didnt understand the work in clss all that well so i lucid dreamed it, over the space of week i had 5 math dreams and they were all very very complex, i understood them well in my dreams but upon waking up i couldnt remember much, but, next week in math, with no study at all, the work was easy and i got very good mark on my test that semester…mind you i didnt really enjoy the math dreams so i didnt do it again…well not often. Its possible, but remembering the new thigns you learn can be haarder”
