THE DREAM SURVEY WITH LOTS OF QUESTIONS (…hehe)

… I thought this might be an interesting little thing to do. I’ll try to ask questions that haven’t been asked yet. This is just for interest’s sake, not for any study or such things.

  1. Do you dream in colour? Black and white? Tints? Colour themes? Is there any particular colour that usually stands out more than the others?

  2. Are your dreams more pleasant or unpleasant? Or in-between?

  3. Do you dreams tend to take place in a particular setting (ie, by the ocean, in a forest, at home, overseas, or underground)?

  4. What kind of characters do you dream of most often (ie, children, men, women, “average joes”, celebrities, etc)?

  5. What about animals? Do you dream of them at all, and if so which one most often?

  6. What is the one thing you loved the most about your favourite dream?

  7. And the one thing you hated the most about your worst nightmare?

…if anyone can add more questions, feel free to do so. The only reason I stopped was because I ran out of ideas.

  • In colour. Always in colour.
    As for themes… none come to mind.

2. Are your dreams more pleasant or unpleasant? Or in-between?

  • Most of them are either pleasant, or actually kindda boring.

3. Do you dreams tend to take place in a particular setting (ie, by the ocean, in a forest, at home, overseas, or underground)?

  • No general place… however, the majority of my LD’s have taken place around my home (though that’s becoming less and less often).

4. What kind of characters do you dream of most often (ie, children, men, women, “average joes”, celebrities, etc)?

  • No general sex. Pretty much all of them are un famous (and only a very few cult famous – such as band members).
    Some of them are real people I know from real life, others are made up. The majority are made up. If it’s a real person I know from real life, then they’ll probably quite an important role, depending on how well I know them.

5. What about animals? Do you dream of them at all, and if so which one most often?

  • Very few animals. Though I do get dreams involving spiders (big spiders… that usually end up down my shirt or in my hair… >_<)

6. What is the one thing you loved the most about your favourite dream?

  • I don’t really have a favourite dream… um, but from one my favourite dreams – it was overcoming (and killing) the monster thing that had spend the entire dream chasing me and ignoring everyone else.

7. And the one thing you hated the most about your worst nightmare?

  • I had no control over the situation – I could not even attempt to save myself.

8. If you could revisit any dream over again, which one would it be and why?

  • A nightmare I guess. One where I can make a difference.

9. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever dreamt about?

  • Hm, now you’ve asked me that… my mind’s gone blank :/.

10. Have you had any “religious” dreams (even if you’re not religious)?

  • Nope.

11. What about dreams based on an existing movie, book or TV series?

  • I once dreamt I was filming the new Matrix movie (as the part of Neo). Looking over the script, I noticed that Steven LaBerge was helping (and had offered advice to Keanue Reeves in the other three movies). I also noticed that the second time I looked at his name, it was spelt wrong…
    No, I didn’t become lucid…

12. What’s the most frustrating thing you’ve ever dreamt of?

  • Making a fool of myself in the dream… over… and over… and over again.

13. Have you ever dreamed of hurting someone? Being hurt yourself?

  • Both… plenty of times.

14. What sort of dreams do you prefer in general (lucid aside)? Peaceful? Adventurous? Meaningful? And why?

  • Adventurous, defiantly. Doubly so if it include a fairly good plot… and girls.

15. Ever dream of having magic powers or skills in a non-lucid dream? If so, which is the most common? (ie flying, telekinesis, invisibility, transforming, conjuring, etc).

  • I once had a dream where I had really powerful telekinesis powers. Mixed with my guns, I had to fight my way out of this sort of futurist base. Cool? I think so.

16… And finally, because I can’t think of any more questions after this, how do your dream characters tend to act? Are they like real people with defined personalities, or do they seem more like mindless robots? Or somewhere in between?

  • Usually quite realistic. If they have a defined personality depends on how import they are. If they’re not important, then chances are just be a one tone character (eg. does nothing but get angry).

Always in color. No specific color theme.

Most of them are neither pleasant nor unpleasant.

In natural landscapes and unknown houses.

4. What kind of characters do you dream of most often (ie, children, men, women, “average joes”, celebrities, etc)?
I often dream about my family.

5. What about animals? Do you dream of them at all, and if so which one most often?
Some reccuring nightmares with wasps. I don’t have a lot of ND’s with animals. They are more common in LD’s (wolves).

6. What is the one thing you loved the most about your favourite dream?
It was a perfectly constructed love story, full of magic and beautiful landscapes. :grin:

7. And the one thing you hated the most about your worst nightmare?
That it has continued even after I woke up! :grrr:

8. If you could revisit any dream over again, which one would it be and why?
I wouldn’t revisit any dream. I would prefer to have new beautiful dreams.

9. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever dreamt about?
A strange Sherlock Holmes’ inquiry (the Cristal Arrow affair) which began by the fact that more and more silex arrows were found each day in London.

10. Have you had any “religious” dreams (even if you’re not religious)?
Yes.

11. What about dreams based on an existing movie, book or TV series?
Three dreams about Sherlock Holmes.

12. What’s the most frustrating thing you’ve ever dreamt of?
I don’t remember.

13. Have you ever dreamed of hurting someone? Being hurt yourself?
Many times.

14. What sort of dreams do you prefer in general (lucid aside)? Peaceful? Adventurous? Meaningful? And why?
Mystical and meaningful.

15. Ever dream of having magic powers or skills in a non-lucid dream? If so, which is the most common? (ie flying, telekinesis, invisibility, transforming, conjuring, etc)
Flying.

16. how do your dream characters tend to act? Are they like real people with defined personalities, or do they seem more like mindless robots? Or somewhere in between?
Real people with defined personalities.

I dream in color and lately, I see yellow, blue, and green the most.

Pleasant and sometimes confusing like a bad movie.

Usually outside in a city area. In a huge house, my parents house, my grandparents house, my apartment. In tall buildings. All over the place.

4. What kind of characters do you dream of most often (ie, children, men, women, “average joes”, celebrities, etc)?
Mostly men, average people. We are usually hanging out together or we are on a mission of some type.

5. What about animals? Do you dream of them at all, and if so which one most often?
I dream of cats and dogs, even my cat Dottie who pasted away years ago. Lately, I have been dreaming of insects, some are really huge but harmless.

6. What is the one thing you loved the most about your favourite dream?
The dream where I spoke with my spirit guides. I loved how they sat down with me privately and gave me great advice. One told me it is ok to grieve. Meaning grieve over life. The other gave me a long hug. I swear it lasted for a very long time. He also told me while hugging me to take as long as I need. I love this dream becuase it felt so real and when I woke up I felt so much better because I was feeling horrible before I went to sleep and I asked for guidance and this is the dream I had.

7. And the one thing you hated the most about your worst nightmare?
My worst nightmare was just recently and I was mad at myself for having it because I know that dreams are an aspect of yourself.
I didn’t like how I could not figure out what happened for it to turn into a nightmare because it started out as a normal dream. Then all of a sudden this presence showed up in the air above us, at an inside pool a bunch of us were at, and it made a horrible noise. It was a light type of presence. Everyone just froze including me. I don’t like the not having control feeling it gave me.

8. If you could revisit any dream over again, which one would it be and why?
I would revisit the dream I had about the transparent pastel colored bridge in the sky. I never made it across the bridge to see what was on the other side. The reason is that when I tried I would feel sick nauseus and lightheaded like and ended up stopping. It was so beautiful that I just want to see it again.

9. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever dreamt about?
Man there are so many lol. Lets see… My cat who passed away was green in one dream. In another, I was in the store shopping with the girl Monica from the show ‘Friends’. We went through this door that had a tunnel we pushed our carts in. The tunnel started going downhill and in a circle like a ride would. I kept holding on to my cart until it started going so fast that I was flying downhill holding on to the cart still and felt so dizzy that I woke up. Another one was when I kept crossing the same street over and over until I woke up.

10. Have you had any “religious” dreams (even if you’re not religious)?
I saw Jesus is a dream once.

11. What about dreams based on an existing movie, book or TV series?
Can’t remember any.

12. What’s the most frustrating thing you’ve ever dreamt of?
Being lost on the streets and it would start getting dark and I didn’t think to ask anyone for help. Not being able to find a bathroom/toilet or a clean bathroom/toilet.

13. Have you ever dreamed of hurting someone? Being hurt yourself?
I cursed a few people out in some dreams. One of them was last night. Someone broke my coffee table and nobody would own up to it so I started cursing them out. They just sat there looking at me.

14. What sort of dreams do you prefer in general (lucid aside)? Peaceful? Adventurous? Meaningful? And why?
Peaceful. Meaningful. Non-confusing. Communicating with higher beings, such as my spirit guides, and loved ones who crossed over.

15. Ever dream of having magic powers or skills in a non-lucid dream? If so, which is the most common? (ie flying, telekinesis, invisibility, transforming, conjuring, etc)
Flying, telekinesis, telepathy, hovering over the ground, floating.

16… And finally, because I can’t think of any more questions after this, how do your dream characters tend to act? Are they like real people with defined personalities, or do they seem more like mindless robots? Or somewhere in between?
They are like real people with defined personalities. Usually if they are people I know in this reality, they act the same way as they do here.

In normal colour. But when I was a child I dreamt a lot more about green.

In-between. Either they are pleasant first and then turn out to be bad dreams, or then they are about things I do often (watching tv, talking with my aunt…)

Home, malls and sometimes Finland.

4. What kind of characters do you dream of most often (ie, children, men, women, “average joes”, celebrities, etc)?
Mostly people I know from real life (family, people from school), average people and sometimes people from movies etc. (see #11)

5. What about animals? Do you dream of them at all, and if so which one most often?
Dogs are really common, and they often attack me. :sad:
I’ve also dreamt about cats and insects.

6. What is the one thing you loved the most about your favourite dream?
I learned to fly :smile:

7. And the one thing you hated the most about your worst nightmare?
The total panic, I was hysterical with fear. I couldn’t think reasonably, and just hurt myself.

8. If you could revisit any dream over again, which one would it be and why?
The dream in which I was the boss in a werewolf mafia.
It was just cool to be able to transform, I had a lot of people to help me and our secret hide-out was the best. :razz:

9. What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever dreamt about?
That I was in a camp rules by Ursula (from Little Mermaid), and that she killed that little crab by sitting on him. And all the children were really small and we had to flee.

10. Have you had any “religious” dreams (even if you’re not religious)?
I once tried to phone Jesus in a LD, but it didn’t work.

11. What about dreams based on an existing movie, book or TV series?
I have met a lot of people from Pokémon and some from Disney films. I have also been people from Pokémon and Sailor Moon.

12. What’s the most frustrating thing you’ve ever dreamt of?
That I were a part of a video game, and I had to fight a monster. But I lost everytime, and had to start again from the last saving point.

13. Have you ever dreamed of hurting someone? Being hurt yourself?
Of course.

14. What sort of dreams do you prefer in general (lucid aside)? Peaceful? Adventurous? Meaningful? And why?
Adventurous, and a bit wierd. It’s boring with peaceful dreams if they are not lucid.

Transforming (werewolf) and super speed.

They act a bit like robots, repeating same things over and over. There are some that seem more intelligent than others, but they are not as common.

  20. Yes, end of the world, religious tolerance needed, heaven is different for different people, my totem animals (and my guiding animal)

  32. Very real to life, but they are too nice sometimes to be real people. People I know IRL are very true to their RL character.

Always in technicolour :grin: … Don’t think i have had a dream in black and white before, though some colour dreams have been really hazy.

Around 95% pleasant, but my LD’s are always good!

They have recently all started at either my college common room, or the insides of a car… (…strange…)

On average all of those… except celebs… (haven’t really noticed i don’t dream about celebs… intresting)

Erm … actually i can’t recall an animal being in my dream… unless deamons count?

The incredible feeling of absolute freedom and peace!

Not recognising it was a nightmare, and the endless running away aspect of it… grrrrr…

8. If you could revisit any dream over again, which one would it be and why?

…erm… i’d like to revist most of my dreams, but i haven’t got that sorted out quite properly yet… but i’d really like to revisit the one of myself flying over a rainforest and talking to someone, becuase i can remember the the feeling and i want to find out what else happened in it… it was intresting…

lol … er… a lot… but where my dream was about phone in toothbrush micromachine cars, and when i got one, i was in a game! and had to beat like 4 other people, but got stuck in the ocean because i ran out of micromachine petrol (maybe i needed toothpaste petrol??? )

… Having a nice car… then waking up and remembering it was just a dream argghhh!

erm… actually i think i have… sort of sparred Goku… but then i had a LD where a DC told me that i should fight DC’s even if they try and hurt me… so im kinda confused now…

All of the above! … why… because im awkward! lol no seriously… erm, i like the peaceful ones best… leaves me in a reflective mood in the morning and its a nice break from city life…

Flying! … though i did have the abilty to make falls appear, which was cool. I’ve also done a little telekensis in my non-LD’s

Er i can honestly say both… i have both…

/me is happy he has finally found the end to the questionare… and proceeds to find the nearest bed…

I dream in colour almost all the time. Yellow objects usually belong to me, for example yellow clothes or cars.

It varies a lot, I get more unpleasant dreams in periods. Apart from that, they are usually pleasant or neutral though.

My parents’ house and the forest and sea around it shows up almost every other night.

Women of my age are most common. I dream a lot about family members and friends too.

I dream a lot about fish, of all things

The feeling of actually experiencing that wonderful location, even if I knew it was a dream. It was like experiencing real magic.

The complete helplessness when the damage was already done! My brother had frozen to death and it was my fault.

It must be that nightmare from my childhood, where a woman kept telling me I was too young to pass through a door!

Being a pea plant.

I have had a couple of dreams about angels taking people to heaven or healing people on earth. And I’m not a religious person.

I have had quite a lot of dreams based on Tolkien’s books. Computer games affect my dreams, too.

Losing my voice when I shout. It happens all the time

I let my brother accidentally freeze to death once. That was probably the worst dream ever. I have had some dreams where I have been badly injured, too

I like those dreams that make up a whole new world, or those with music or phrases that stay in my head :cool: I guess those are usually of the adventureous type.

Invisibility was common before. Now it is immunity to cold or heat, or the ability to run fast while barely touching the ground :cool:

Some DCs come back from dream to dream, and those have personalities. Especially in the beginning of lucid dreams, I get the clueless type too.

    I think a bit of both so i think my dreams are inbetween.

    Yeah the settings my dreams are more recurring are: my grandmother’s house(and surroundings) and my home.

    well i don’t dream about animals that often but i think pets (my own)are the ones who appear.

    weirdest thing? can’t recall but im sure it was VERY weird.

    Well my dad giving me some toys and waking up to realize it was a dream OR meeting someone(celebs) and realize that’s a dream.

    Yeah i had a dream recently about that, me fighting an old friend but in the dream he was the first to start the fight so…14. What sort of dreams do you prefer in general (lucid aside)? Peaceful? Adventurous? Meaningful? And why?
    well they are funny,adventurous and peaceful but sometimes weirdo.

No they act pretty normal, that’s why it’s hard to get lucid.

Whoa, that IS weird! Mind you, I dreamt of being a tree once, so I’m not really in a position to comment, lol. :tongue:

Anyway, some very interesting responses there. I think I’ll post some of my own (I can’t ignore my own topic, whaaa)! :content:

  • Yes, colour like everybody else so far.

Invariably pleasant overall (though occasionally there might be a few not-so nice elements).

I was like “woah, I can’t go in there” and a narrator-type voice said “no one can.” But then I decided I might as well go in now, seeing as I’ll never have another chance.

I cant change anything anymore and I forget that Im in a dream and I get eaten.

    - In a dream once I was in a room with a ton of topless girls, I did an RC ( hot girls being one of my dream signs) and saw that this was a dream, I got so excited I woke up. I would looove to go back to this dream and keep calm.

         - people with really long fingers. They were scary in the dream, their fingers could work too well and they would touch me. I know this doesnt sound scary but in the dream it was.

    - Just last night I had a dream in which Im pinned down by some sort of criminal or something. I look up and the clouds are in the shape of a man in a chair. For instance: Zombies are taking over the town and I don’t know yet. My friend tells me the bad news and we discuss what we’re going to do about it. (in most cases, run!)

IRL I painted that picture and gave it to a friend who liked the thing.
