The music.. it came to me in a dream

I had a dream a few nights ago where I was playing my sousaphone for something or other, and was severly irritated by an extremely high note followed be an extremely low note. I completely forgot about this dream until the middle of the next day, when I remembered that for some reason, every bar line (there were 7 or 8 lines o.0 ) had a note name next to it (ABCDEFG with flats). I attempted to compile the music that I had been playing in the dream, but my recall isn’t good enough and I failed. Has anyone else ever been able to pull music from their dreams like this? I’m sure I’ve never heard this music before in my life.

Yes, I’ve had a couple that I remembered well enough to repeat afterwards. One was really simple and boring, like a nursury rhyme (but worse, with a 50’s backing track), and the other was actually fairly decent. I wouldn’t say either of them were particularly special, and though I’ve had several dreams in which I’ve heard amazingly beautiful music, I can never remember it when I wake up.

The best way I have found to bring dream music back into RL is to purposefully wake yourself up out of a Lucid Dream when you feel you have heard/created a melody worth saving and then grab that tape recorder or digital mp3 recorder and sing it into the recorder as soon as you open your eyes.

If you are musically inclined as well, try stating the chord progression also if you can remember it.

However, I completely understand the difficulty in recreating it like it was in the dream. It seems the more beautiful the music in the dream, the more complex layers there are and the harder it is to reproduce upon waking up.

I have heard very good music in hypnogogic and hypnopompic states. Not much music in my dreams though.
I wish I could recreate any music from anywhere because those hypnogogic tunes are magical.

I heard the most beautiful piano song, but, I only play clarinet. Go Figure @_@
