yesterday, I read the entire guide at ld4all.com and also the wikipedia entry on lucid dreams. so, tonight, something happened - I woke at the middle of the night, because of a lucidity burst in my dream. but I forgot the dream almost instantaneously…
so, I though - it’s late of night, so I still have the best REM time, and I’m wake. it’s perfect time to test those techniques I read about. I was too lazy to WBTB so I decided to do something WILD. I tried to remember something from my dream, but it was totally gone, so I started counting my breath, climbing stairs… and everytime I realized I was falling into dream, the visions faded and I was feeling my body again… rubbing my hands, touching tongue in the roof of the mouth and even yelling “increase lucidity” couldn’t help. I realized how they are probably helpful, but I’m too noob to succeed.
the major problem was my memory… the dream fade away before I can think about it. I really have to start a dream journal and workout my brain muscles for a while, before expecting the lucid dreams. in fact, I already knew that, but the experience of sudden wake at the middle of the night was unexpected, and I decided to try… even knowing that trying to hard is bad.
btw, I’m new here…
going to post a formal presentation in the right forum, hehe, don’t be mad at me.
hi! and welcome to ld4all Don’t worry, everybody has to start somewhere.
Well, first of all, WILD is really difficult, the most difficult technique actually (which doesn’t mean you can’t try it, just don’t get to sad if it doesn’t work at first). It’s hard to be conscious that you’re entering a dream and not have that effect the entering
Anyway, memory is important. How often do you remember your dreams? Even if you have good recall, it’s good to start a DJ. And it’s fun too
As soon as you wake up from a dream, don’t move (don’t know if you did this, so…) and don’t open your eyes. just lie there and try to remember what your dream was like. Give it a few minutes. You might have no idea and suddenly the whole dream just pops into mind.
I’ve forgoten lucid dreams, I know how annoying it is But unfortunatelly, frustration is part of the learning process. Just try to find a way to used in your favor.
whenever i try to use WILD using hypnagogic imagery, i’m never able to just monitor what’s going on in my mind with a constant level of lucidity. i’ll just all of a sudden realize that what’s happening in the hypnagogic imagery is ridiculous and then i’ll snap out of it, so i have a really hard time with that technique.
A method that has helped me WILD in the past is when i lay down and close my eyes i try to mimic the random feeling of before just going asleep. Have you ever partly came out of a the brink of sleep and thought “why the hell did my mind just think that?” i’m pretty sure (i’m not so sure) that those random thoughts are the beginning of a dream… or daydream. Well what i do is say in my mind anything that comes into my brain.
For example, this is what im thinking at THIS SECOND: “sex, dog, picture, wax, poster, oblivion, orange, candle, submit” so do the same when you are trying WILD, ive found my brain gets tired and “switches off” yet i’m still aware. DO NOT force yourself to say words (Such as looking around your room), just say in your mind whatever comes to you.
