I’ve had enough. I’ve failed countless times with Lucid Dreaming, and now my Limit Breaker is full. (In other words, I’ve had enough.)

Aww take a deep breath… go ahead and vent… which ever one works for you.
I don’t really know how many LD’s you’ve had (if any) or how long you’ve been trying, but I heard someone saying on the boards that if you’re having a dry spell and getting frustrated, it could be a good idea to take a small break from LDing and focus on other things, and then start over with new motivation and new energy.
Heh, don’t know what else I can tell you… PM me if you need to vent, I can be quite a good listener at times.
I’ve never really had any LD-s that count, and I’ve been trying since last year.
LD’s that count? How do you mean? confused How can an LD not count?
olesia is right…you might want to take a break if you are angry. The thing is…every time you become frustrated because you don’t have lucid dreams, then that makes it even HARDER to lucid dream. Just release everything and forget about failure. If you don’t have a LD tonight or whenever, then don’t worry, just tell yourself that you will have one the next night.
Try experimenting with other techniques out there. Many can help you if you just believe they will work. Check out my sig if you need tech help
Best of luck to you…dry spells, or even starting out on LDs, can be really nasty. But just think…every second that goes by, you get closer to your next LD. Don’t worry, your time will come very soon
One morning I decided I was going to stop trying to have LDs for awhile, since I had been at it for a few weeks with no results. That day at noon I was taking a nap, and thought “oh yeah, I could WILD and try to have an LD”. Instead I just tried to fall asleep. Had my first LD.
Just beileve it’s possible, sometimes less effort is better.
Try changing the way you do it, or stick to one for a long time. If you read my DJ, or ask people around, you’ll see that I had tried over and over to WILD. In my DJ, you’ll see in the same post I’d given up about WILDing, but then edited and changed my mind about it. After doing that, I had two LDs on the following night. It’s more of a belief thing.
If you want, try doing what I did:
Get yourself very tired (I don’t recommend this if you have to wake up early on the other day. Use this at your own risk). When you are tired, go to bed, get yourself confortable, relax for a few secs and start counting to 100. Keep on your mind that when you’ll get to 100 you’ll do a RC. To keep your mind from wandering, focus on your sight (on the blackness or any eventual HI). When it gets to 100, open your eyes and do a RC. Chances are you’ll RC in an LD and notice you are dreaming. Try many times, count to 200 or a higher number if you need. (I had to count to 100 twice, then to 200, and I believe to 100 once more).
Oh yeah, when I was about to LD, I started to get confused in the counting. That’s the moment you should focus more if this happens.
Btw, when you LD, if, for any reason, you wake up, do it again. Chances are you’ll be sleepier and it’ll be even easier.
Cid I have seen quite a few LDs in your journal. Every time you get a LD it is an opportunity to train for the next one.
Dismissing LDs as not worth counting is devalueing them a lot
How can I count LD-s when I never got to do anything more than becoming aware I’m dreaming?! And more importantly, I’m not as aware as I believed I was in my dreams in my attempts…
Well, Cid, maybe you could drop LDs for a while, take a deep breath and concentrate on your normal dreams. Do so for a month. Try to change the way you see your dreams, give a new meaning to them.
I don’t know. Play with incubation, or try shared dreaming, or just try to interpret your regular dreams…
Then you start trying to induce LDs again. Just don’t push too hard on yourself, if you make pressure to have more and get frustrated at those you have, you’re practically telling your SC Lucid Dreaming is bad.
I think I’ve said this quite a few times in this forum already, but it’s worth saying again: whatever you do, you’ll get more (and better) results if you play with your subconscious, rather than against your subconcious.
So if the inducing techniques—which consist in tricking yourself into having an LD—aren’t giving results, maybe you should try asking yourself for a lucid, and not wait for it, but aknowledge how grateful you’ll be if you get one.
What it all comes down to is: no two people dream the same way. You’ve been trying some standard techniques, and they don’t seem to work fine with you, so maybe it’s time to change your approach, rather than quit.
I hope I could help.
I’m sorry to inform you all that there are techs that will never work for me.
WILD = Simply due to the risk of freaking out in the process, and I can’t focus my mind enough.
MILD = I can’t hold on to the thought of becoming lucid enough.
WBTB = A pain in the ass waking up 30 mins to 2 hours after sleep…
VILD = Same as MILD.
I had only two LDs, and I didn’t do much on them. In the first, I only thought “I’m dreaming!” and thus made the light change, and in the second, only had time to look at my bizarre-looking dream hands.
But both were LDs, as I was aware that I was dreaming.
WILD is a bit underrated. Because few people get freaky stuff, everyone who’s new thinks they’ll get it too. Really, there isn’t need to fear at all.
MILD and WBTB don’t work for me either, so it’s more of a matter of choice. MILD is because I can’t focus as I can with WILD, and WBTB is because of my sleeping habits. So it’s ok if you can’t.
VILD is pretty simple, it’s a matter of getting used. IRL, try to make RCs a habit! That way you’ll remember when you dream/LD. I’m living proof, as, while I didn’t get the LD via VILD, the first thing I did when I got the feeling was look at my hands, proving this way I was LDing.
I recommend you to stick with RCs and WILD. If you get a scary experience out of it, just forget it and try another tech. Or try it again! You’ll never LD if you keep worrying about fears
MILD isnt about what you think it is.
MILD isnt a technique even. Its about keeping motivation, thinking of dreams during the day, having an eye for all dream connected things, being aware.
Apart of it DJ, RC and intention to have LD before sleep are things that support MILD great way.
" Im dreaming now and im aware of it"- thats what you think before sleep and you`re all fine and dandy:)
I guess it’s just a stress time.
You may not believe me, but forcing LD too much, you can get bad sleeping and you will get more and more tired, which makes LD harder and harder.
I would take a break.
Stopping the incubation methods and trying to have a good and relaxing night sleep would be the better choice for a while.
Don’t let LD get you into a chain reaction of stress.
Don’t give up.
“WBTB = A pain in the *** waking up 30 mins to 2 hours after sleep…”
It sounds like you haven’t even tried it yet, and you’re already saying its a “pain in the ***.” If you really wanted to have a LD, you would try WBTB. (BTW, WBTB works better after at least 5 hours of sleep.)
And about the WILD being too freaky, all you have to do is stay calm and focused on your goal. There is no danger involved with WILD.
These are not all the techniques, I should remind you that I get most of my LDs just by asking myself to have one!
Cid, the quirk is not doing the techniques: it’s facing LDs with different eyes. If you are anxious about them, want to have them but get frustrated at the ones you get, you’re obviously going to create a subconscious block! You should try changing the way you look at your dreams—especially at lucid dreams.
Try to expect different things from them (or do like me and expect nothing at all), just change the way you feel about them.
You have taught your SC that LDing is frustrating. Now you have to teach you the opposite: that they are nice and you would love to have one every once in a while—that’s better than nothing, right?
Lose the desperation and stop trying too hard. Completely forget about LDing for a couple of weeks, involve yourself with other pursuits and give yourself a break. My first LD occured about a month after I stopped trying and since then I’ve had a number of prelucid moments.
All the best.
For one thing; I have trouble getting up in the morning when I’m off to school.
About WILD; I can’t focus enough, and I’m as cowardly as no one here is.
Whats the difference between letting your body fall asleep and not knowing it, and letting your body fall asleep and remaining conscious? There’s nothing to be afraid of.
And if you lose focus easily, try drinking some coffee or staying up a few minutes longer when you try WILD + WBTB.
Coffee? I’m a 15 year old, StEvE21.
And it won’t help my concentration ability either. And worse, I have incurable fear for some things.
