Im a full blown Hydrochonreact. You know those people that think they allways have some disease. This is what I get for being clean, and sober for three months? In the past two months I have had… Prostate cancer, diabities, skin cancer, lung cancer, now I think I have liver problems. Its all in my head. I stop doing drugs, and the only thing that gets high now is my anxiety. Each time I think I have a health problem, I worry that Im going to make a real health problem from worrying about it. Does anyone else have this problem?
(quick note: it’s “hypochondriac” )
Anyway, hypochondria itself isn’t dangerous, but I do recommend seeing a doctor whenever you think you have these things happening. Even though it’ll turn out to be nothing, it’s better to have a doctor say you’re fine then to stress over it constantly.
It could also be a side-effect from the drugs. When I stopped taking drugs, I literally scratched parts of my skin bloody because I thought I was itching all over my body. If that’s the case, then your worries might be temporary.
Yea I used to when i was younger, Didn’t eat meat for a year because I thought I’d get food poisening. After learning what it can do to you, I thought i had it, Started to feel like I had it. Same with if I ate Meat, I would feel as though I had it after
It generally passed, it just takes time. I know it isn’t really life threatning, but you just gotta try to embrace that everything happens to everyone else, not yourself.
Im a hypocondriac also. And i also have Dallysimia Major [ Anemia] :(:(
I’m sure if you got off drugs you have the willpower to get over this. What were you on, if it’s not to personal a question; might this be a withdrawl effect from the drug? Opiate and alcohol withdrawl can cause quite serious delusions.
Yah, as Daylight said it would be good to know what you were using (not that we’re qualified to diagnose - but hey, armchair doctors, let’s give it a whirl! ) I’m also interested in what your occupation is, in my experience health professionals often have a touch of hypochondria. If you work in the health industry, and you’re suffering psychological withrawal symptoms from substance dependence, it wouldn’t surprise me if it manifested itself as hypochondria. [/armchair diagnosis]
BTW Hydrochonreact? Yah, sounds like you’re allergic to water.
Sorry, couldn’t resist saying that.
You can truit me now… wait, I’ll truit myself
I agree, it sounds like you may be experiencing withdrawl(esp. if you went cold turkey to kick the drug habit)…
My grandmother(who was a nurse for 45 yrs.) has always been a bit of a hypochondriac, but not in the sense that she was in a constant mindset of “I have X syndrome/cancer”, more like “taking these antibiotics will prevent me from getting ____(whatever)”… But more to the point: It could just be nerves, try getting some good excercise, that usually straightens me out when I get a little…jittery.
Heh, I should probably mention that I am an engineering student and not, in-fact, a doctor(or even medical student for that matter). So if you’re feeling abnormal then it would probably be wise to contact a medical professional pronto.
It’s funny, Rad, because taking antibiotics when not needed would probably help the virus or whatever create an immunity to the antibiotic. hehehe
Viruses are little pieces of DNA inside protein capsules. They’re incapable of doing… just about anything, really, so they’re at the mercy of whatever is capable of destroying them. I don’t believe antibiotics act against them.
yeah but viruses mutate like Flu and becom immune to all that stuff so it becomes really hard to kill it.
