tried something new... so what went wrong?

So… Last night I decided that I would try something new because it seemed very simple and possibly effective. I decided to try to LD using just eyelid patterns. I layed in bed for a while with nothing happening. Then I started moving/shifting/changing the color of the dots. Soon enough I had the overwhelming feeling of being able to “Step into my dream.” However, it seemed like everytime i tried to do so, I would begin waking up and have to start all over. Eventually I just gave up and went to bed regularly.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to leave my physical body and enter my dream body???

Were you doing this as soon as you went to bed? I tried that at first, and like you it felt as if I was getting somewhere, but in reality you can’t go straight into REM as soon as you fall asleep - i.e. no dreams. Have you tried waking yourself up in the middle of a dream (setting an alarm for 4.30 works for me) and then trying to step back into it by the same method?

Step into what dream? You see, it’s hard to step into a dream that has not yet formed.
Also, when you do start to dream, you don’t have to “enter” it, you are already dreaming, it will happen on its own.
I suggest you try to play around with the imagery, and when you realise that you have a dreambody, use it! At some point or another, you will be fully inside the dream.

Thanks guys! very insightful.

Over the last couple nights i’ve continued experimenting with this… and i found my dream body! and it was in a dream! but i didn’t quite step into it. i think i got too excited.

But i have another question. Everybody keeps talking about SP and how it can be painful and shocking in many cases. But when i use WILD and stuff… I seem to get HI without any of the shocking affects that people talk about related to SP. Is it possible that for some people SP is not as difficult to overcome? I get a slight tingly sensation… but besides that nothing really happens. i feel as if i just go straight to HI.

I believe Sleep Paralysis can be a different experience for different people, some can enter a dream without realising at all they are in SP. I wouldn’t worry about SP too much just focus on relaxing and the technique you are using to stay aware personally.

thanks. i’ll keep that in mind. I just wasn’t sure whether or not SP was the same for everybody.

My first SP was amazing for me even though it was brief and simple. But now since I read about the “old hag”, I’m scared to try it again because I know she’s waiting in the corner to get me in my sleep
