im having a bit of trouble controlling my lucid dreams
ive had 6 so far and havnt been able to fly properly in all of them
i also lose lucidity (to the lowest of all lows) and go with the flow of the dream but can then pick up again, but still at low levels
Sounds similar to my own experiences. Recently I have been working more on WILD with unusual effects. You should try it! It is harder to master, but almost guarantees higher control.
In my other lucids, I too manage to fly almost every time and lose track and end up in an ND a lot of the time.
For this, it’s best to work on your DR. Start a DJ and make regular entries, no matter how vague or fractural. Also practice the many number of techs on this site. I recommend some form of light self hypnosis or meditation before sleep.
By this I mean, lie still and relax, tell yourself that you will become lucid and think of things you would like to dream about. Control your breathing and count while imagining walking down stairs and thinking of yourself as less conscious with every step.
There are many techniques you could use. You already found the best resource so try lots of techniques and just find one that works best for you and fits your lifestyle.
im trying WILD every night, but it always fails, my first LD was spontaneous entering an LD but all the others were DILD
i will try some meditation, but how does it help with control?
and my DR is poor, possibly under 1 a night, but sometimes i remember 2 or 3. i do have a DJ
My DR is also poor! Ask anyone here! It is my main problem but I do not have the time or often forget to write in my DJ.
Meditation helps with control during WILD. It helps you drift into a trance where your mind is still awake but your body is not. It helps control your breathing and heartrate and stops you waking up that way (once you drift into HH or LD you will know what I mean!)
It doesn’t help control beyond that point though. If you are having trouble with WILD, try another tech. WILD is my preferred method though. Try to relax.
Tonight when you are in bed, lay on your right side, take a few deep breaths until you feel calm. Imagine walking down stairs while counting and feel yourself getting less conscious with every step. Remind yourself to stay aware though.
Stare inwards, kind of like looking at your eyelids and let any images or shapes that will form appear. Try to concentrate on any of the random shapes that appear, now you will feel you legs and arms probably start to go numb. Don’t panic, you are now getting towards the HH stage.
You may start to feel like you are tumbling through the shapes you are concentrating on and you will end up in a black room. When you get to that stage, report back!
Losing lucidity is a bigger problem than not being able to fly, so work on that first. Keep repeating “I am Dreaming” over and over again once you become lucid.
If you lose your level of lucidity it is very difficult to have any control. To maintain lucidity there are several things, two personal favorites are sayign increase lucidity now and telling yourself that your dreaming.
In my experience lucidity level is dertermined by how clearly I am aware that it is a dream, so really try to know that you are in a dream.
As for control belive that you can do it and have a plan, ex. to fly I imagine a jet engine type force blasting out of my shoes.
