using LD's for therapy on yourself?

changed the title to make it more clear what the topic is about. old title:“Hello all i am knew here and I have a question”

My friend has been talking to me alot about lucid dreaming. So i decided to start looking into it.
I have a problem with my self image, which affects every aspect of my life. I have seen shrinks and doctors but so far no one has helped. My question is can you, after you become good at lucid dreaming, practice cognitive behavioral therapy on yourself? While in this lucid state do you have the ability to maybe change certain behaviors you exibit in reality? I am basically wondering what can lucid dreaming do for you, once you master it.

thanks for your time.

You could possibly use lucid dreaming to supplement CBT, but I wouldn’t depend entirely on this technique as your sole method of ‘recovery’.
That being said, I have personally experienced great benefits from LD’ing, and have overcome fears through confrontation of nightmare elements. I think in this respect ld’ing can definitely aid with emotional and psychological integration, and that’s not too say that a more advanced form of Lucid oriented cognitive behavioural therapy isn’t possible.
Give it a go. Lucid dreaming has definitely enriched my life, and many other peoples lives.

LD’ing can be extremly helpful for psychological issues. Example: Say you are nervous talking to women. If you learn to proficiently LD(which takes a long time, trust me), and talk to women in an LD, ask them on dates, whatever, then you have practice doing something you are afraid of, and can have a slightly easier time doing it IRL. I don’t know how to put this into practice to aid self image, but I’m sure you can think of some exercises to do.

thanks for the advice guys. We will see what comes of this.

Whoa Daylight, you made my day. :ok:
This is gonna be great practicing talking to women. :sly:

Funny, I have too been wondering if I could actually practice any skill while lucid or make changes in RL. :colgate:

I know I can do it, everybody can, yay! (according to this page )
