Virtual Reality

I tough about something and I wanted to share with you guys:

Do you think that in the [near] future, if the field of LDing will develop, the science will find a way to sleep forever [or at least until you die] and then we will be in an everlasting LD?

And do you think if spending too much time in LD it’s gets boring? Because after all you and your sub-conscious make there everything, so it’s kinda easy after a while to predict everything, and in some point maybe we’ll want to get back to the real world.

So my question is:
If you’ll be able to LD for the rest of your life (but only LD, no RL), would you do it?

But if you could, would you?

Most people will say no (unless that are really depressed and hate their life) simply because its in our nature to want a real life.

Anyways, here’s another idea (nicked from the ‘Roots of the Matrix’ DVD in the Matrix Box Set):

  • What if we could add in loads of nanobots (yes) into our bloodstream or whatever. Whenever we wish to, we can simply activate them, which would paralyse our limbs. Our senses will be fooled into thinking we’re in this virtual reality (linked togther with other people’s) and when we try to move our limbs, we’ll move our virtual limbs instead (much like your dream body in a dreams).

(note: this isn’t my idea)

Also stolen from that DVD:
For virtual reality to work, we need a link between motor functins, and sensory input.
Lets put a camera on the top of a very tall builindg. Now, lets get a man and put him inside the building, on the bottom floor.
We put a mask on the man, which has screens over the eyes which shows what the camera is seeing.
Now, lets add onto the mask a device which registers which way the man is turning and where he is facing. This sends a signal to the camera, which will act in the exactly same way (so, if the man looks to his left, the camera will look left).

The loop between visual input and motor actions has been joined, and so the man’s brain will think it’s at the top of that building.

Hey that’s interesting. You could insert sound into peoples brain so they can hear things from the outside while in their LD. And find a way to read peoples mind to get the sound they are saying. Then you could link lots of people together.

Here’s a problem they’ll all be having different dreams(But everyone perceives different realities is RL so it might not be too much of a ploblem). What do you think about that?

I won’t discuss possibility of that, but my answer would be no. LD’ing is so cool because you can think of all that great things you can do in your dreams, and they all have their origins in reality. Also, in you dreams you (your sub-c) can be creative to some degree, but you still have to get RL material to base your ideas on.

I agree.

I dont think lds can get boring after some time.To ld forever?Propably no,but id do it lets say for another 100 yrs.
Note that theres no such a thing like total control- even very experienced lders will confirm it.You may have a lot of control but there still will be an element of suprise. And its the best news:)
