Visualization

When some see things in their minds do they actually start seeing stuff in front of their eyes? :bounce:

I guess what I mean to say is can anyone make images appear in front of them with their eyes closed to where it’s actually like they’re looking at something.

I wouldn’t describe my visualization like that at all, it’s much more in my mind.

Ok I was hoping because it does really seem like I’ve heard people talk about them visualizing something and being able to actually see it with their eyes on the back of their eyelids or something.

That sounds more like a hallucination to me.

I dont know if this is what you mean but when I visualize with my eyes closed they will often move when attempting to ‘look around’. Visualizing with my eyes open I tend to space out and its more in my mind.

Here is exactly what I mean:

Someone closes their eyes and starts imagining something and eventually it pieces together and their is an actualy picutre in front of their eyes.

I have a very good imagination, but cannot achieve this except when I am falling asleep or in deep meditation.
If I take control of my HI imagery I can actually see the images quite clearly, though the quality of the images degrades as soon as I take control of them. Still, it’s quite vivid.

HI I see, visulizations I see, but I wouldnt say in my eyelids, they still see black, but in my mind I see an image. It’s very ahrd to explain.

Really? Well, for me HI is very intense, and I’d say that the difference (for me) between HI and regular imagination is the fact that HI appears very near real - next best thing to ld’ing. But I guess everyone is different… :content:

mdjr I know what you mean that’s what I see too but I’m talking about people visualizing something and seeing stuff in front of their eyes like creating HI at will, that would be cool.

Ilovelucid… I’m pretty sure I know what you mean about someone being able to visualize things as clearly as seeing it behind their eyelids.

It isn’t any type of hallucination. It’s just visualization. It can go hand in hand with suggestive thoughts. Everyone can visualize just not with the same clarity.

Some people use visualizations during ceremonies, meditation, and just for calming effects. Some people can actually confuse it with daydreaming.

Do you believe that with practice anyone can get good enough to where they can make images appear in front of their closed eyes?

I do… and I also believe that when you visualize something often enough you can make it appear. Visualizing something is very hard. It is easier for some.

I’m not talking about visualizing Brad Pitt naked and then you’ll see him. (although the thought has crossed my mind)I mean things that are “achievable”.

You can start off with something small. For example, pick something that you know you see in your head with little to no work. Red pencil let’s say. See it. Whenever you get a chance visualize it in your head. Close your eyes. Do this for about 2 weeks consistently (key word) and the results will amaze you.

So you might actually start to see the red pencil in front of your eyes when you close them just like you’d see it in real life?

what I mean is that the red pencil may show up some where physically or you might see a poster of them. Something along those lines.

When something is visualized it’s not like it becomes a virtual image that is clear but can’t be touched. It’s being able to see with clarity in your mind what you do with your eyes.

Ahh ok, it’s like when I visualize stuff now it’s not that clear and is hard to hold on to but with practising that my mental imagery will become much clearer so that it is almost like seeing it with your eyes, but do you think that some can close their eyes and see things like they’d see them in real life?

I’m sure it’s possible with practice. Just remember that you aren’t going to see the visualization with your eyes closed (using your lids as a screen) but rather in your mind.

Why did you say I’m sure it’s possible with practice then say you’ll only see it with your mind? I’m saying is it possible to ever see actual images with your eyes closed at will.

I didn’t realize you were asking if someone could see through their eyelids…

Visualization to me, is something else.

My guess would be that “seeing” actual events unfold with your eyes closed is something similar to clairavoyance (sp) or developing the third eye incredibly.
