Hi everyone.
I recently read Exlporing lucid dreaming by LaBerge and have already successfuly had a few lucid dreams. My tactile sense and my ability to control the dreams are very well developed, but none of the dreams have the vivid detail, color, or overall realism that I’ve heard so much about. Is this typical for the novice, and are there any techniques to increase the vividness of color and detail? Thanks for any help.
Here’s my way of increasing vividness:
- Find an object (that preferably has an intressting texture to it)
- Look at it - how realistic does it look?
- Touch it - how realistc does it feel?
- Glance around yourself - think about how you actually seem to be in the middle of this world, how it all seems to exist, how it all feels and looks so real.
Repeat later in the LD if you feel the vividness is starting to drop .
Man…I wish I had LDs that easily.
Don’t worry, vividness is usually random, although you can use techniques like Sureal’s to improve it. As you have more LDs, it will come easier.
I usually yell out “Increase vividness!” or something like that, and it really works.
I’m not sure what’s typical… I only had my first lucid dream today, and it was so vivid I even considered it might be actually real! Definitely one of the most vivid dreams (if not THE most vivid)I’ve ever had in my life, for sure.
I had a spontaneous lucid dream when i was a child and it was as real as being in a garage on a sunny day could’ve been. It was very short though, maybe 5 seconds tops.
