waking up to remember dreams? and best sleeping position?

In the middle of the night to remember dreams better? Because my Dream Recall is awful right now!

[edit] actually, i’ll put my next question here aswell. Is there a position I could use to sleep well? I have difficulties getting to sleep soem nights. :help:

The topic title is a bit worrying if taken out of context.
Well, I used to tell myself to wake up, but it was more to try and get MILDs. Recall get’s better, but you’re often so tired you’re more like “oh sod it”.

Waking up in the middle of the night can help you remember more dreams, especially if you wake up during or shortly after a dream, but it isn’t absolutely necessary for good dream recall. If you wake up too early or too often, you might be too tired to write your dreams down or even focus on remembering them until later. Plus, you could be losing a significant amount of sleep depending on how long it takes to write down your dreams, how long it takes you to fall asleep, and how many times you wake up each night.

This is a bit hard to answer since everyone has different positions in which they find it easiest to fall asleep. I usually sleep almost on my stomach, but still a little on my side. The important thing is to find a position that’s comfortable. If you can’t find one, get a new mattress.

I find that if I try to wake up I am definately more concious the rest of the night, and my recall is better , but I don’t feel rested… Since the better dreams, (Longer ones anyway), happen at the end of night I just try to remember them in the morning.

Accordign to Laberge we wake up several times each night anyway, even if we don’t remember it.

I used to make short notes after i woke up in the middle of night. It takes only a minute to write down just single sign-words(?) what help you recall your dream fully in the morning when you have time to write it fully down. For example: you dream that you are in the forest, see a bear who eats rabbit and starts to attack you. So you only need to write down “forest”, “bear attacking”, “rabbit”, or similar to remember the full dream in the morning.

When i used to do so, my dream recall was great and i also had more LDs. Nowadays, i just don’t have too much sleeptime, and i’m bit lazy too

Has anyone ever experienced this? I must sleep too deeply or something, cause I’ve never experienced waking up during the night. Normaly.

It’s well known. They are called micro awakenings. They last two or three seconds but we don’t remember them.
