OK a few hours ago I just had what appeared to be my 1st lucid dream. I was in the dream and I had the sudden urge to look at my hands and surely enough there were six fingers on my left hand. The thing is after this point my eyes were fixed on my left hand, and I had no power over myself as though in a ND. Also though I noticed I had 6 fingers I never really reassured myself, saying yeah I am in a dream. On the other hand I woke up with a gasp, and my heart was RACING. Was I LUCID?
sounds like you did a Rc, which means your very close! Unless you actually knew you were dreaming then you werent lucid…but youre so close, that if you continue to be patient and keep doing what you are doing…(especially RC during the day) then you should be LD ing in no time. Dont be discouraged, Doing an RC during the dream state is a HUGE step!!! Dont panic when it happens, just let it flow…it might happen any time!!!
I’d say you were prelucid: you felt something must be wrong (hence perhaps the sudden urge to look at your hands) without actually realizing you were dreaming. You’re very close indeed! The excitement upon awakening also indicates this.
Keep on practicing with RCs and do them very meticulously every time. Be patience, and one day you’ll become truly lucid.

Well, you were not lucid but, you are getting there. You looked at your hand and saw that you had 6 fingers. It even sounds like you knew there was something odd about having 6 fingers, which is a step even closer to lucidity. But it does not sound like you made the final jump to “I have 6 fingers I must be dreaming”. However, you are getting close so keep practicing!
