Was this LD?

Hi everyone, i’m new to the forums. (nooby) anyways, I’v had several dreams before, never had a LD one yet, but if I think back to when i’v had dreams, I sit here and ask my self, were those LD dreams? let me tell you a couple of dreams I had that might of been LD, or something else

When I was a little wee boy in grade 3, i’v loved action. You’d see me playing any action game, anything. My cousin was the same, anyways. I had a dream, that I was on my play ground, and I was just playing, having fun, then I though in my head, “What if Aliens attacked us?” And what do you think happened? These flying ships landed on our schools play ground, and out came these creatures. I didn’t stop and think about them, but when I woke up, I remember seeing those creatures “Aliens” From a show. So Automatically, im all geared up, and i have a rifle, so me and my cousin starting shoot, and I had a feeling that I was gunna get shot, and… I did, so I don’t know if that’s LD, or if that’s some sort of, “Think about it, and it will happen.” Kinda thing.

Another one was. I was sleeping, I woke up. (btw this was a dream) so i went downstairs, and also though to my self. “I wonder if the fish are still there.” and I go down stairs and they were gone, all there was, was this… Toad… fish thingy, with like 5 arms or something, and I sat there, and said. " I must be dreaming." But I didn’t have any control… I jsut said that, and walked to the kitchen and took milk out, then… Woke up.

When I said I was dreaming, it’s like Reality, you say ur dreaming, but u dont look up at the wall and try to fly up there, you just go on with your stuff. So i could use help knowing what those kinda things are.

Thanks.

A Lucid Dream is a dream where you are aware that you are dreaming.
You can know if a dream was a lucid dream by asking yourself: “Did I know I was dreaming?”.

If you control the dream but do not know you’re dreaming, It’s called an ULD.

Extremely low-level Lucid Dream.

Hmm. I never class those dreams as LD’s myself, but technically they are.

You’ll find that must people have had lucid dreams (Even low level ones like yours) at a young age. It is most odd.

I see this is your first day? Good luck. If you ever need any help, don’t hestate to ask!

Your first dream was not a lucid dream. It was more like dream incubation which is another kind of dream control. You think a bout a subject enough and that filters through to your dreams and you dream about what you were thinking about. This works even better if you spend some time meditating on what you want to dream about. However, they are not lucid because once the dream is in play you don’t have active control over the dream.

The second dream is harder to analyze. You had the thought “this must be a dream?” but, you lacked control over the dream. Here is where it gets tricky. During the dream did you know that you should be able to control things? If you did, then you had a lucid dream. If not, then no you were not lucid.

The up side is that either way you are making progress. The concept of lucid dreaming is starting to make it’s way into your dreams.

Yeah, those were the dreams when I was litte. I just starting trying Lucid Yesterday, I remember my dream, but had no luck doing it. Thanks for your guy’s help on explaining what those were. Thanks.

‘You had the thought “this must be a dream?” but, you lacked control over the dream.’

Isn’t it still a LD even if you lack control? Gaining control comes after your realize you are dreaming…right?

Yes. But you have to be aware that you are dreaming and that you could (or should) be able to control your dreams.

For example; if I were in a dream and I knew it was a dream and decided to fly in the dream but fell flat on my can. That would still be a lucid dream. I would just be having a problem with dream control.

Now, if I had a dream and even said “this is a dream” but I had know idea what that meant or if I was in a dream and using dream skills such as flying but had no idea why I could do those things then I would not be lucid.
