Weird Experience!

I have been reading about consciocus dreaming and OBE’s for some time now and I have been trying to have a lucid dream of my own with no success. About twenty minutes ago something strange happened to me:

I was lying in my bed doing some breathing meditation techniques I had learned earlier in the day. After about an hour of lying there I had given up on the meditation and I just felt really comfortable. Normal thoughts, completely relaxed, then all of a sudden I heard this booming noise (like a vibration of some sort) and high-pitched sound, there was no feeling in my body and I especially note not being able to move my hands. I felt myself being lifted off the bed and this incredible jolt like I was moving very fast, feet first. I felt kind of frightened and the feeling went away, I was lying in my bed again and the booming and high-pitched noise quieted a bit. I opened my eyes a little and the room looked normal so I closed them again, took a deep breathe and tried to welcome the feeling of being lifted again, and it happened! This time I lifted off the bed and I imagined myself turning over and over like I was on a skewer and it felt like I was doing so! I was afraid to open my eyes just incase I were to see myself lying on the bed. The experience ended and I sat up in my bed. I was definitely not sleeping when this happened. What the hell happened to me? Was this some kind of super HI or something? It certainly did not feel so, for I felt like I was actually lifting out of my bed. My eyes were closed during the experience and I was afraid to open them for some reason. :shy: Does anyone have a rational explanation? I am still fairly new to all of this. :help: :content:

Hey,
there’s nothing to be worried about. Relax. I’ve had very similar experiences myself a few times.
Noise, vibration, being unable to move and a feeling of levitating - you’ve entered sleep paralysis - it happens every time our body goes to sleep but we’re usually unaware of it cause our mind falls asleep, too.
Being able to stay consciouss (awake) while your body enters sleep paralysis is actually a very good starting point to find yourself in a lucid dream.
You just don’t let those feelings scare you. Hang on and try to fly away, out of your room and soon you should find yourself in a dreamland and consciouss!

Congratulations on your first semi-Astral Projection!

Oh, I do not believe this was SP because I was able to move my body after the first time it felt like I was levitating. Directly after I closed my eyes I had just moved around a little and this is when I felt myself lifting for the second time and the noise picked up again. I have experienced SP before and this was certainly nothing like I’ve felt. When this was all happening I was definitely awake and all I could see was darkness (because my eyes were clothes). My mind was absolutely clear and I was focused on the feelings of weightlessness. It was a very bizarre experience, nothing I have ever felt before. Has anyone else ever experienced such a thing?

Yes I’ve seen some accounts of this on the forum. It seems you managed to have an OBE. Congrats!

Generally, most of the WILD/OBE attempts don’t happen in a so sudden way. But I’ve read some accounts of people who felt like propelled from their body during some seconds. It seems that you’re gifted in this technique. Keep it up!

I cannot wait to try it again tonight. I guess it just takes patience. Usually, I give up and roll over to go to sleep after practicing WILD. But instead I remained completely relaxed for about 45 minutes to an hour without moving a single muscle and I entered some kind of OBE. Now that I think about it, I should have opened my eyes when I lifted off the bed! The whole time I just concentrated on being comfortable. I am going to try it again tonight and if I am successful I will report back with detailed instructions on exactly what I did.

Incredible! I can’t believe you managed to have an OBE (If it was one) so easily. Great job, I feel a little bit jealous.
