Hello everybody. Newbie Lucid Dreamer here, and I have a question.
Last night, I was trying to have a LD using WILD (first time trying WILD). While I was repeating to myself “1, Im Dreaming, 2, Im dreaming” etc etc. I felt this extremely strange and disturbing feeling. I felt as though I was floating in space, and it kind of felt like I was passing out. I lost count in my head, and my heart started beating faster and faster until I woke up with that funny feeling in your stomach when you look at someone you like. I don’t know exactly why, but I somehow felt that if I had kept my eyes closed I would die. It was weird.
Anyone else experience anything like this while trying to have a WILD? What do you think would’ve happened if I had ignored it and kept trying to have a LD?
Well when I was feeling it I wasn’t really thinking that I would die. I guess something just popped into my mind later that if I kept my eyes closed I would die. Probably just some random thought that I had. Who knows?
Not so weird actually. When you do WILD you will experience lots of strange stuff. The key here is not to pay any attention to those feelings, don’t even think about them to get passed it into a dream. Sounds like you were very close so do not give up. Great progress for your first time.
^ Thanks man. I’ll try not to think about it next time, but it was a very powerful feeling. It will be hard, but I just want to WILD at least once to compare it to other techniques
You just have to ignore that stuff. There is nothing in HI that can harm you. The more you worry about it or the more you even think about it you will stay stuck in the hypnogia or just wake up completely.
When your heart is beating very fast, is it a sign of something special? Like you can try to roll (mentally of course ) out of your bed or something like that? Or you just have to ignore it?
I’d rather wait for my system to totally relax before I would perform my OBE-roll, but I dont judge it impossible to do otherwise. Probably harder because you’re consciousness is still too much connected to your physical body (feeling the heart beat etc).
I’m no expert on WILDs. But something similar happened about a week ago. I woke up from a dream and was in SP, my breathing felt very constricted and I was sure I would suffocate if I didn’t wake myself up. Unfortunately I listened to my fears and woke up (I know I should’ve done “Pot-Shaped” breathing as described in EWLD).
I think that if you don’t consciously control too much of your body (for example breathing) you don’t have to worry about dying, just remember that all this stuff happens everynight, you are just unconscious about it. If you were ever in serious danger of dying, your unconscious mind would wake you up.
But if you are seriously worried about it, don’t take my opinions as fact, cuz I’m just some dude on the internet. Look up at lucidity.com or other sites for scientific research on dying in dreams or sleep.
I don’t doubt that. But is is commen for the heart beat to go up to like 200 beats a minute or so for some People before they have a OBE combined with strong vibrations. Why would the heart beat go up like that. I bet when you stop the exercise you will notice that it wasn’t your heart, a slight increase of the heart beat ok but not like that. Alot of strange things can happen when you are close to “exit” like feeling people that touch your bed, hearing steps in the house, voices …Create chance the heart beat is also “fake”
