What are some ways to increase dream recall and vividness?

I was wondering what things work well. Like stones, foods, and music. I also realise it is different for everyone but I need to try some new ideas. If you could please help. Thanks!

autosuggestion is my main thought at the moment…or you could right a dream journal which also helps

Yah the I do the journal thing, and wow its hard work!heh
I’ve been doing it for about a week and a half and probably will do it forever. I get some pretty cool ideas from my dreams for stories and my art! It just seems like my dreams are in snippets or fragments.

lol, it is hard work, especially since I’m a lazy ass so I have to put the journal and a lamp right beside my bed to actually write in it.

Same with me. I should probobly pick up another journal to. It goes fast! Its also funny cause my journal right now is this weird Harry Potter one I got when I was 12 and I just started writing in it. Before then I just scribeled in it. lol

Lol, I use a random scrapbook since i didnt get the occasion to buy one now

Heh… it works.

Try vitamin b6. You can just buy them at your local drugstore.
Also, when you wake up in the morning, be sure to lay very still. Don’t move a muscle, close your eyes and try to capture a dream fragment. If you’ve found one, use this fragment to rebuild large portions of the dream. Follow your feelings and instinct. Don’t overanalyze it! But let yourself flow deeper into the dream memories. If you can’t recall anything, think about your most common dream objects/persons/situations. Hold on to each image for a second and pay attention to your feelings about it. If you have dreamed about one of these objects/persons/situations, you’ll likely notice it if you bring back the image before your mind’s eye. This way you can trace back lost dream memories.
If you’re really bad with dream recall, you may want to take some time doing this, even up to half an hour. Carefully investigate your mind upon awakening, and in time you’ll probably improve your recall. Especially if you combine it with autosuggestion techniques during the previous day or evening.

Thanks for your help. It usually happens when I wake up I 'll remember some small thing on my dream. And I get up and get ready for school and remeber someting else. I begin writing it down. Then when I get to school I’ll remember more of the dream. And go into class early and finish it up. It works okay, but if I just relaxed and concentrated for a while in the morning I probably attach all those fragments together, like you said. I just rush to much.

Ithuriel, do you mean shortcuts? If it’s the case, I think it would be better I move this thread into the Shortcuts section.

Topic moved! :content:

Yah, sorry about that. I’m getting more familiar with the forums. You can move the thread if you want.
Thanks.

No it doesnt. And if you try B6 be sure to take a full B complex since you need the full scale to make it work good.

I cant wait to get my hands on some of that vitamin B6 now, Im going to buy some on the weekend, see if its any good

I tried a vitamin B complex, a few nights ago. I cant recall if it worked but I think I took it to early. And I couldnt fall asleep. I’m going to try it again though.

What you mean so if you dont go asleep whithin half an hour you are awake all night yeah. What do they wake you up or something

No, I think I felt like my eyes where to open and I couldnt really relax them… it wasn’t that bad though. I just felt to awake.

In my short experience with B6, it helps but you still need to have some basic DR skills (such as Mystic mentioned earlier in the post).

B6 aids memory functions, but you still need the strategies to pull those dreams out! Takking B6 just means they come through faster and easier IMO.

Ohhh okay. So if B6 is used for that then if you take it and become lucid, will it make your dream more vivid and yourself more aware?
