Ok. I’m new to both this forum and all about lucid dreaming.
The first time I heard about it was yesterday just a couple of hours before I went to sleep, so my head was full of it as I had read stuff about it all evening.
Anyway. As I went to bed I didn’t really remember all of the techniques so I started counting and saying a sentence after that. "1 - I’ll know I’m dreaming, 2 - I’ll know I’m dreaming, 3… " and so on. And after a while (as I was kind of tired) I started to fall asleep. The numbers were harder to remember and I struggled a bit in the counting. I could barely feel my bed and I felt like I was falling backwards (quite common to me) in a never ending back flip, but still I kept counting and saying the sentence in my head. Then I got this really strange and really comfortable feeling for a short period of time and my heart went crazy and started beating really hard and fast and then it all started to fade away and I opened my eyes. Note that I didn’t see any images or something, everything was just black.
At that point I started it all over again with the counting and once more I got the feeling and the crazy heartbeats but soon that faded away as well.
After that I tried a few times more, but soon fell to sleep for real and woke up next morning (this morning) not remembering anything that from what I was dreaming.
What happened? I didn’t visit a dream world but still I was aware of that I was half-sleeping.
I’ve experienced the same thing… like everytime I’ve tried WILD when first going to bed - And I’m guessing you also experienced this when first going to bed?
Try to wake up 4.5-6 hours after first going to bed, so that you are in a REM period when doing WILD.
I had a very similar experience last night. I was trying to WILD (never going to do it again, I prefer MILD) and I kept counting, and after what seemed for a long time I let my mind wander. I soon felt vibrations coarsing through my whole body, and I immediaely started counting again. I saw a faint image of a bear. The tremors stopped soon afterwords.
But I think I will lay low with trying to accomplish lucid dreams, until I actually can remember what I dream during the nights. It would be a shame to have a lucid dream and not being able to remember that I had.
You might find that if you keep doing RC’s during the day, but not actually try to LD, just work on you DR, you might get an LD accidentally. Worked for me
