What Is The Name Of This Technique? Or Is It New...?

Last night I was having a boring, normal dream. I don’t remember many details about it because it wasn’t very vivid. However I do recall that I was in a large dining hall with hundreds of wooden tables in it.

Now, the thing about this dream was that I kept waking up during the night for a few moments only to fall asleep again and return to the dream exactly as it had been. After waking up from it breifly I remember being rather disapointed that that I was’t becoming lucid. So I thought to myself “The next time I see those wooden tables I’ll know for sure that I’m dreaming.” And then I drifted off back to sleep again and returned to the dream. Sure enough when I saw the wooden tables I remembered what I’d thought to myself and instantly became lucid. It was one of the easiest lucid dreams I’ve ever had.

It was quite lucky, I suppose, but I was thinking… could one use this as a technique? Or is it already a technique?

Hi Tranator, and welcome to LD4all forum !

That’s another form of practicing WILD. In this technique you fall asleep conciously. It seems to me that is was hard for you to stay aware, so it can’t be called a WILD.

But it’s very similar to my own technique. That is, to be really tired and fall asleep, don’t move, while you are aware of what’s happening to you. In your case you weren’t really tired, but in my technique, the being tired fact is to make it easier to fall asleep - in your case that wasn’t necesarry.

Not all techniques work for us all. For some do MILD’s work, for some WILD’s. Others developp theyr own, unique technique.

So, try to stay aware while your body falls alseep. You will enter your dream conciously and it’s a lot easyer to become lucid, as you don’t have to, because you allready are lucid the moment you got in your dreamworld

Good luck !

Yes, that is called chaining.
Good job for figuring it on your own.

Chaining is basically, continuing dreams and using something that will make you lucid when you see it is called a dreamsign.

So, wooden tables are your dreamsigns from now on
And welcome to the forum. I hope you get many dreams about wooden tables

Anyway, there was a bit of MILD there too, together with the chaining. And yes, chaining can do increadible things! Congrats on the LD’s and on finding this out yourself!

As others have mentioned this is a combination of MILD and chaining, and is almost exactly how I do MILD after WBTB. If I remember a dream I woke from I imagine myself in that dream, recognizing an obvious dreamsign, while telling myself that I will realize I’m dreaming. If I don’t remember a dream when I wake up, I imagine myself in an obvious dreamlike activity, such as flying, and tell myself that I will realize I’m dreaming.

Woops! She’s been here for 4 days more than me :eh:

That’s what happens when you see a new poster, start writing a reply to them, wondering if they are new but not wanting to go back and check :colgate:

Well, she’s still welcome, isn’t she?

Pretty cool! I tried to do this this morning AFTER waking up from a ND induced by WBTB but I just wasn’t sleepy enough after waking up twice xD Might try this tonight, well done, sounds like the easiest LD anyone who can’t have them at will has had!! and yesh, she’s still vry welcome

of course she is!

Sorry, I wasn’t trying to correct you or anything, it’s just that I’ve seen a lot of that the past few days, thought it was funny

Of course, it’s no problem, friend.
A could use a few LOLs here and there, too :colgate:
