I recently got into LD’ing again, and this morning I got my first lucid dream in three months.
However, it was one of those dreams that I usually tend to have that starts out as a False Awakening (it isn’t a typical FA though, since I instantly realize it’s a dream).
But anyway, I “woke up”, I tested my bedlamp and noticed that it didn’t work, and then I got out of bed, in slow-motion, and told myself “oh yeah, this is a lucid dream, great!”; then I noticed that my whole house looked completely different, which of course is a perfect dreamsign, but it was very dark.
I tried to solve this by saying “Some more light, please” several times, but it was more like a whisper than actual speech.
Anyway, it got a little brighter, but it was still dark.
But I decided to walk around and check out the house, and I tried to stimulate my senses by looking at things, listening for sounds, touching things etc.
Then I got a terrible itch on my right leg and started scratching it, and a few seconds later I ended up in bed and still felt the itch.
I believe the dream lasted for about 2 minutes.
Well, I don’t know, is this just low lucidity or why do I keep getting these kinds of lucid dreams so often?
Of course any lucid dream is a great sign of progress, but it would still be fun to improve the quality of them.
I find that those sorts of things you encountered in your lucid dream, it being dark and not being able to speak normally comes from reading other people’s dream problems. For example, I read a LD where the dreamer couldn’t fly any higher because of some sort of sky-like ceiling haha, when I tried to fly up to space I hit a sky ceiling . It happens to many of us, you just have to change up your mindset. If it occurs a lot, don’t have the same expectation. I suggest you stabilize and increase your lucidity before performing any tasks.
Yeah I will keep that in mind next time this happens.
But I must say I am rather curious why I keep getting this kind of lucid dream, it always happens in the morning when I start working on lucid dreaming again.
Another kind of lucid dream I also sometimes get that also starts in my bed is 100% vivid and in daylight, but in that version my eyesight is very blocked, almost like I am blind on one eye and there is like a black curtain over part of my other eye.
That version tends to be easier to take control over, though.
