Oky now I´we been trying to LD for a long time now and started to wonder, when ppl talk about the WBTB they always say that you have to wake up after like 5-7 hours and then go back to sleep, but i have a job so i don´t get more than 4 sometimes 5 hours of sleep if i´m lucky, does that mean i cant do WBTB or have LD at all?
and yes does any 1 know what method is best for ppl like me, whom don´t get a full 8 hour sleep?
Yes you can have LD, essentially WBTB is just waking up at a later rem cycle and reminding yourself to remember that you are dreaming.
You can have an LD if you take a nap after you come home from work, preferbly after dinner… but dont sleep for to long or else you cant sleep later it would work the same way as WBTB because if as you say you only get 4-5 hours of sleep you would go into rem sleep pretty quickly (compensating for lost rem sleep).
I’d say that the best method, if you really can’t sleep more than 5 hours on a work night, is MILD, because that’s a technique that doesn’t require you to stay awake long and it doesn’t require waking up in the middle of the night.
Just do MILD before you go to sleep at night. It’s probably not going to be as effective as it would be if you’d do it after a a few hours of sleep, but it might do it for you. The main reason is that the longer and more vivid dreams don’t happen until AFTER you’ve already slept for 4-6 hours, because the REM periods are much longer then.
One important thing, however, if you can only sleep for 4-5 hours a night, you have a pretty stressful life (it’s not healthy, and you can’t make up for it on weekends), so a relaxation technique might be required. Stress and a busy life are generally LD killers.
it depends…
Some people who sleep for 4-5 hours a day are tired almost all the time and when they get to bed they just crash, if that is the case, WILD is probably a good idea to try.
Some are getting used to it and their body is probably simply achieving the necessary REM in the short period, if that is the case, MILD will be better, if you want to wake up in the middle of the night to induce a LD you can do it after 3 hours and maybe try FILD or something. Naps are good times to induce LDs.
Whatever works for you… Just keep trying and you’ll get there.
Wow, 4-5 hours a night, thats rough. I’d say I agree more with Svenshinhan on this one. WILD isn’t a terrible option since you probably enter REM sleep pretty quickly, however, it involves “staying awake” longer or getting up in the middle of the night, which is the last thing you need of your only getting four or five hours of sleep.
