The last LD I did manage to have, was on the train on the way home. However, time-wise, it doesn’t make sense. Since LD should be just like the dream stage of ur sleep cycle, which is ~ 5th stage in sequential order, then you shouldn’t be able to go into LD (as i’d expect) right from non-sleep.
So either LD’s actually occur in a different time as opposed to non-lucid dreams, or maybe just sometimes you fly through the pre-dream cycles within seconds.
When we fall asleep for example on a train, we have usually slept in a bed not too long ago. It is the same with daytime napping, we reach REM sleep faster because we have already had some deep sleep in the night. I have also had lucid dreams on trains, and more easily in naps.
actually, i fall asleep on the train after the morning wake up, and after college, when i’ve been up for 8+ hours already. I just fall asleep whenever i’m bored.
cool…but…could you theoretically then have a nap that lasts a few hours…
do you know of any online resource that explains how naps are only REM. I mean, i believe you and all, I just want to see the source and maybe read up on more details.
During the day your body converts serotonin to melatonin. When you wake up you have very little melatonin in you. Your body needs melatonin to go into deep sleep, if it doesn’t then you get REM (which is why late morning is mostly REM.) During afternoon naps you don’t have enough melatonin to go into deep sleep.
If you didn’t get enough sleep the previous night though you may build up enough melatonin in a few hours so long naps after not enough sleep may cause you to slip into deep sleep for a while.
also i think it has to do with the fact that your mind is usually awake anyway during the day (assuming you have a somewhat normal sleep cycle) so your mind still stays active since it should be.

LD s and generally, vivid dreams are induced in naps because you enter REM much faster.
That is why the appear to be more vivid, in many cases, lucidity is gained and the dream recall is much better.
