Who Am I?

I was reading the “My Girlfriend’s Mother says…” thread, and I came across LucidCraft’s post.

And then it came to me… Who are we? Who are we really? On the inside, can we be a completely different person?

I’m not talking about subconscious here, I mean like, maybe (I’m not religious) some sort of spirit or other type of being superior to us.

And if so, is it possible to interact with this person inside an LD?

yes, because this person is inside your mind first and foremost.

you better get really deep in your head though if you wanna find you, yknow?

hope you make it.

yeah, i think thats what got me interested in LDs in the first place…

and thanks.

Completely different from what?

It is easy to become tangled in seemingly deep questions, that dissolve completely when you notice you think in a wrong way.

On the inside, can a car be a completely different car?

It might look different on the inside than you might expect, but it never looks different that itself.

You are you. That doesn’t mean you can’t sometimes surprise yourself, but you are definitely not someone else.

So who are you? The real trouble with that question is that most people don’t know exactly what they mean with that question. What do you mean by “who”? As long as you don’t know that, you won’t succeed in answering the question. As soon as you know exactly what you mean, the answer should become straightforward.

You CAN’T be totally different. To me the thing inside you is probably going to affect you one way or another… =P

Have fun finding that personality~

Your question is mainly involving beliefs. What do you mean by “person”? What makes you suppose that you could be another else? Why this another person would be superior to you?
As long as you don’t clarify this, you won’t obtain clear answers to an unclear question. I think it’s an interesting question, but if you don’t precise the feeling that makes you ask it, it’s like you asked: “In the inside, could we be an elefant?” Some people will say: yes, some people will say: no and some people will say: I don’t know.

Oh, of course. If you eat an elephant, then on the inside, you’re an elephant…

To complicate your thoughts even further, it isn’t all that easy to define yourself physically at all. For instance, most atoms in your body are exchanged within a period of approximately seven years. So, are you still the you you remember being seven years ago?

I think this is related to your values, and what you like and what you don’t like, what you are interested in and what you are not interested in, and how these things change over time. The values or beliefs that you have that will never change and are what make you you. Enjoying a TV show one year and not the next year is not a huge change, and although you are different from one year to the next, these little things don’t matter if you look at the big picture.
