Why can't I do it by now?? So close....

I tried to do WILD for a couple years off and on. I get so close… I can easily acheive sleep paralysis and see the images and everything, but then nothing ever happens after that. I just begin to feel numb, then lay there for a while till I give up. One day, after all that time, I did a WBTB and in my dream did the finger check, and noticed I only had four fingers! I woke up in my dream and everything felt so real! I started to get up, but then woke up in real life. I kept trying to do WBTB but it never worked again. I took a break for like 6 months and now I want to start trying again. What was I doing wrong?

if you’re seeing imagery, that’s gotta be a really good start. i try WILD but that method has only worked for me twice that i can think of, once late morning (sun was up) and the other i think was a WBTB. it’s got a lot of appeal for me though, because not only do you get to experience the dream, but the build-up, behind the scenes stuff too. you could probably use a new perspective on the topic, a point of view you haven’t seen yet. don’t know if i can help, but i can say the two WILDs i can remember have been really fast, like all of a sudden i’m in the dream and i guess i was in hypnagogic before.

in one, the dream sort of just appeared and i was on my same bed but knew it was a dream. the other was a bit more interesting. it was like i was wisped in from a hypnagogic background into a cabin that materialized around me and then the dream began. but that dream was somehow much more focused than maybe any LD i’ve ever had, but seemingly happened at random.

sorry i typed a lot…i’ll stop now

Hi  and good to hear you’re back into lucid dreaming!

If you can reach SP and see images easily I think you should try to get more involved with the images. Try to imagine what sounds, textures or feelings come with them and slowly step into the image. There might be other things you ca ntry too. But I’m sure if you can get to that stage you’re really really close, so don’t give up!
