Why do people want to have SP?

I’ve seen people who ask about how to have SP, but I don’t get it. Isn’t SP extremely scary? So why would you want it?

It is scary at first, but it is a way to enter your dream from WL. I have never experienced SP before though.

It isn’t nearly as scary if you keep in mind that none of the Hypnogogic hallucinations are real. And, SP is the state from which one goes about having a WILD.

I agree with that.

SP is a very interesting experience as you get to feel what it’s like when your body falls asleep. People teach themselves how to keep calm during SP and it quickly becomes something that isn’t scary anymore. Ofcourse it might not be as easy for everyone, i don’t know. I personally noticed a huge difference in how calm i was in SP after reading/learning lots about it and i’ve only experienced it around 5 times in my life. I really hope some time i will enter an ld in this way.

I used to be a little scared of SP but once on the night before school started again, i decided that i wont stop trying to WILD unless i fall asleep accidentally. It started getting scary but i kept thinking COME ON I WANT ONE MORE LD BEFORE SUMMER ENDS this isnt even real!! why should i let it keep me from getting Lucid!

so if u have good motivation and know that it cant hurt u then it isnt scary at all

ive had SP a few times now
yeah it’s kind of scary at first
but you just gotta tell yourself nothing bad willl hapen
sometimes with it i get like a strong heart beating pulse
but apparently thats just your mind playing tricks on you in SP
last night I had a bit of sleep paralysis and near OBE
i just stayed calm,
i wanted to swallow but i couldnt, and my mouth was filling with saliva
and it took all of my willpower to move again LOL
i think SP is usually related to OBE, someone tell me otherwise if im wrong

I dont know if they are related but the reason I try to enter SP is because I think its fun. I mean you can feel your whole body get crushed under your own weght and my hallusinations can get pretty wierd. All in all its a great thing to experiencs

SP scares me a little, too. I’ve only had it once, when I was about seven or eight, and it was pretty scary (think hallucinations of evil disembodied hands reaching for you beside your bed!). Now that I know what it is and that it can’t actually harm me, though, I feel better about it. All you need to remember is that it’s all created by your own mind, and it can’t harm you in any way (other than maybe frighten you a little bit). I’m actually getting ready to try and conquer my fear of SP by trying a WILD. I’m thinking that since I know about it now, I won’t be so afraid of it.

For me, it’s about the kick it gives :content: I like nightmares too. And walking in dark forrests in the middle of the night =P Your mind tries to convince you that you’re really in danger, and probably sends out some stuff (endorphines? adrenalin?) to make you prepared for dealing with the situation.

Or maybe I just like the security and excitement afterwards

i hate you all
i didn’t ever think, that the hallucinations would be sooooo extrem and i thought, that they only come, if you WAKE UP and are still in SP, not at the beginning…
well, i don’t like scary things, so maybe WILD isn’t the right thing for me anymore…
