Why remember first?

Hi!

Why is it important to remember the dreams before you can become lucid?

And one more question for you who can dream lucid dreams. Can you dream a lucid dream whenever you want if you ones learn it, or do you have to stuggle all the time, with technices and such?

I have also thought this. My first LD took me by surprise. I don’t remember the dream, except for where I was, but when I was lucid I can remember the conscious part. Does this mean you can remember the lucid part of your dream easier than the… not lucid part of the dream. (mind blank)

it’s better to remember dreams before trying to get lucid so that a) you will have more confidence, and b) so that you will remember it.

actually, my dream recall has been down lately… but it is going to be back tonight.

ok. Thanks.

I started working on my recall some time ago, and just a few weeks after that i started getting LD’s, so I thought that I would keep having LD’s from time to time, and didnt focus on maintaining recall. Now I cant even recall normal dreams… so im starting again from scratch.

So even when you reach LDing you need to keep working on it to not loose the ability, and without recall its impossible to LD (you wont remember it; its worth nothing).

yeah, Juanelm, my recall is almost at absolute zero at the moment, I don’t even remember fragments of dreams… yeah, so if you’re lucid dreaming, concentrate on recall too… something I will do!!

im boosting my recall. already remembered TWO dreams last night!

oh and it is very important to know recall because if you dream about something you dreamt about before, you willl know you are dreaming and that way you can use WILD (just recognizing your dreaming) and wake up!

Ofcourse you can practise lucid dreaming before you have established a steady dream recall. It’s just more focused if you do one at a time. I started doing both at once and it worked out just fine.

lordrrr. You mixed up the terms. Realising that you are dreaming while youare dreaming is DILD. It does not have to happed with a technique, but the most famous one for it is MILD. WILD is when you remain conscious from wakefulness allthe way into the dream, and hopefully throughout it. so. there you ahve it.

heh lol oops :content:

still new to LD vocab

but thx for the clearing up!

Remembering dreams before you become lucid helps you:

a)Become familiar with your dreams and the dream world in general.

b)To make sure you actually remember a LD if you have one.

Its the way most people start, and its proven to work. Stephen LaBerge, the scientist who proved lucid dreaming also stresses working on recall.

Hope I helped,
