WILD and FILD/HILD ?s

Hello all… I’m sorry if this has been posted already, but are the FILD/HILD and WILD techniques good? What I mean is, do they work well, but do they also work smoothly? I have read peoples DJs where they had an LD that was induced through these techniques. Most were very awesome, but I don’t know if I want to try them, because I’ve read several that report unpleasant “side-effects” if you will. (Tingling, not realizing that the world around you is the dream world, etc.) I would like to know how you all feel about these induction techniques… :help: Do you recommend them? Why or why not? What are the potential problems?

Thanks!!!

I’m not one to ask as far as HILD/FILD, but I know enough about WILD to try and help. As far as WILD goes, it’s very much customized to whoever is using it. In other words, what works for one person may not work as well, or at all, for another. When you do find a method that works for you well, it’s usually not much hassle at all. As for unpleasant side-effects, unless you really really fear SP, which may or may not happen at all, the most you should get is discomfort from the rollover signal, if it happens, and tingling in the limbs. If you’re just starting Lucid dreaming, MILD is more recommended, along with frequent RC’s, as WILD can be discouraging if it doesn’t seem to work for you. But try anything that catches your interest; the more methods you try, the more likely you’ll find one that works for you.

There are both what I call “active techniques.” Basically instead of trying to plant an intention in your head of becoming lucid, you’re keeping yourself aware until you get into a dream. Like Unseen said, expect to play around with them for a while before you get them to start working. You’ll want to do either one about 5-6 hours after first going to sleep so you have an easier time falling back asleep.

There aren’t many disadvantages if you do it this time of night since you’re much less likely to hit SP (not that SP is a bad thing). Even if you do, it’ll be shorter than earlier in the night. The only reason I would tell someone not to try them is because they can take time to get to work, so many people give up after a couple of weeks and lose interest in lucid dreaming. If you can keep up your motivation, by all means try.

Thanks very much Rhewin and Unseen! I may give this a try for a little while, seeing as MILD and RCs have failed me lately…
