I have just started to try Lucidity, and I do MILD every night before bed. Yet, I have no luck at it at all. WILD seems like it would be difficult for me to accomplish, but is it really all the hard to catch on too?
Also, when trying WILD (Brace for possibly dumb question) Do you have your eyes closed when seeing hypnagogic images? And how long should it take me to get to “knowingness”?
Sorry something similar to this was already posted.
MILD is a bit hard until you get used to it. I haven’t been really successfull with it yet. But it really depends on people. Some get it fast, some don’t.
And yes, close your eyes.EDIT: Or so I think Unless I’m really doing it all wrong… Boy this would be embarassing.
How long? It depends too When you’re more skilled you take less time, though.
Autosuggestion, that is repeating “Tonight, I’ll realize I’m dreaming” about 20 times before going to sleep, is a very simple and efficient method. MILD is somewhat a little more complex if you practice it how it’s said to.
According to some polls which have been done one the forum, WILD is harder to learn and people have less WILD’s than DILD’s. As for me, I would give to beginners the advice to practice autosuggestion and RC’s, for instance.
Now you can too try to practice WILD sometimes. Perhaps you’ll have good results at it. You have to close your eyes when you practice WILD. You just do as if you would sleep normally, cause the goal is to fall asleep.
I’ll move your thread in the First Steps forum, cause your question is interesting for beginners.
It depends on what you’re better with. WILD is good for people who have good focus, concentration and skills with visualising.
MILD would be better to work with, if you’re better in the prospective memory department. Prospective memory is remembering to do things in the future, such as rembering to do RCs and ultimately remembering that you’re dreaming.
Personally, I’ve had more success with MILD. However, now that I have almost mastered that, I am working on WILD.
So, for example, comparing WILD and MILD, let’s say that I have mastered both…
Which will I have more succes with?Or when you master some technique, are you able to LD everyday?
Depends. I’m about 50/50 with WILD and MILD. Some days I feel like doing one, some days the other, and sometimes I accidentally do one I wasn’t trying to do…
Just when I think I’m ready to actualy start trying to lucid dream, I start forgetting my dreams after having them. It seems I’m better with RC and Autosuggestion, since with WILD I’ll wonder off, but now I can’t try anything again untill I start having my dream back. It’s wierd. First week was fine, half of the second, but now three days since I remember my dreams. I think I’m just worring too much about it.
If anyone has a definative answer, I would like to know if they eyes should be open or closed during WILD techniques.
I ask this again because although the mind can more rapidly conjour images if there is only blackness, I have also heard from a Podcast that keeping your eyes open (but not forcefully) when you are exahusted is also a good way to enter the dream consiously.
I personally hallucinate tons of HI with my eyes open, so if they need to be closed I would really like to know.
Woohoo! I finally had a lucid dream, but got too excited. My first real one. I was dreaming about someone breaking into my house, so I went to go attack them. But then I realized ‘hey, I would never attack a burglar. I would want to, but wouldn’t. Hey I’m dreaming!’ I stopped ‘attacking’ the burglar (who had a gun, but I no longer cared because I knew it was a dream), then got too excited, and woke up from that dream. Oddly, right away I had another dream. This one was weird. I was only dreaming I was lucid. It’s kinda odd, because I’m wondering why I only dreamed about it, but not actually be lucid. One lucidity dream makes me happy enough, though. Then before I got up for the day, I had a false awakening, and when I thought I was awake, had sleep paralysis! Fortunately, I got over it quickly.
I remembered five dreams last night … but that’s because of B-6. I usually like to use my own will than medication (and caffeine )to help me remember things or stay awake, but I heard how well it works, so I tried it. But that’s a record for me; five dreams! I don’t think the B-6 helped me get lucid, but just helped me to remember my dreams. Some people say it helps with vividness, but that didn’t happen to me.
And that Lucidity didn’t happen by WILD or MILD. It happened by recognizing something. I know what I do during the day and I know things that I would NEVER do, no matter how much I would want too. I seemed to recognize something in a dream that made me get lucid.
Just thought I should tell about that. Didn’t mean to write so much. x.x
