Almost did it! This morning, I woke up naturally, and it was about 30 minutes before my normal “getting up time” so I went back to sleep for a while, and woke up again, and then I remembered to try WILD, so I did.
I was so suprised at how incredibly easy it was, It worked as soon as I tried… I felt something happening, I cant describe it very well because I only let it happen for a few seconds before getting scared and stopping it. It was like, a buzzing noise or something, and I felt paralysed, and weird, hard to describe, but have I done it right?
But yeah, I think it definately worked.
Im just worried now, this isnt dangerous right?
what happens if you get paralysed and are unable to get out of it or something?
there’s really nothing to be afraid of, you wont get paralysed for life
anxiety/fear is probably the only thing that stops you now!
Practice some more and I’m sure you’ll WILD very soon
From what everyone says, and all i’ve read, there is no danger. It is also logical that there is no danger: you’ve fallen asleep every other night of your life, the only difference this time is that you stay conscious, there should be no reason that it could be dangerous. It’s a very strange experience though, i’ve only WILDed once about a week ago, but just try and focus on having an LD and staying calm. I focused on my vision where I could see blue streaks and just willed myself gently to stay calm and enter a LD, and after less than ten seconds it all went quiet and I was worried I had woken, but sure enough I had made it. When you manage it you’ll be hooked, although as I say i’ve only WILDed once it is a serious experience: first the rush of entering sleep conscious, then the amazing clarity of the LD world. The first time I tried MILD it worked too, I also had a strange sensation and couldn’t move, but I remembered that this was normal and just went along with it, once I started seeing images which then turned into a complete dream I completaly forgot about the strange feelings, so from experiance I can tell you that there’s nothing to be scared of.
1984- you say it takes 10 seconds from after it starts until you get through, is this the same for most people?
And also, When I tried it I was really tired, and not thinking straight, because of the tiredness, I just had slight conciousness, does the tiredness go away when you reach the dream?
Also, I dont recall seeing any “hypnogogic images” or whatever they are, I just remember blackness…
next time, I wont get scared… I’ll try not to anyway, it was weird though…
Don’t worry. If you keep practicing you won’t be so scared. You will learn to ignore the feelings, visuals, etc. you experience when you practice WILD. It scares everyone at first especially if you do not know what to expect. I was scared my first time but now it is my favorite technique.
Well for me they came a lot later on…I everything went black, then I “woke up” and tried again and then…I’m wasn’t sure of the time but I’m guessing it must of been something like 5-10 minutes before the first images started to appear…you probably just didn’t wait long enough thats all.
Try not to worry so much about when you will get to the hypngia or SP or anything when trying to WILD. Just do the WILD technique and don’t worry about anything else. Just let things happen. I think you may be keeping yourself too awake worrying about when you are going to get to the hypnogia. Just let yourself go and things will happen.
