Without getting too much into my personals, what few nightmares I remember have to do with failure to protect something or other, or to fulfill my duties. It’s very rarely fear. But even these dreams are getting sparse. A dream really has to be gloomy and extremely negative for me to call it a “nightmare”.
I don’t have nightmares - in the sort of stereotypical meaning of the word - as in monsters and gore and stuff… But all my dreams for the past year or so have been scary for me, but most people would probably just think I was being stupid.
I dream about getting lost a lot, which is really worrying in a dream - worrying enough to be scary. And about being burgled, which is a severe fear in real life that has entered my dreams. Oh, and I dream about heights quite a lot - another fear.
And I also dream about school a lot, and of old bullies of mine…
So, overall, it’s pretty rare if I waken up from a dream without feeling slightly shaken or worried or miserable, haha.
I feel quite compelled to answer…
Yes, I have nightmares and thought everyone has them from time to time, but reading answers on this post has changed my mind. I am not sure why I have them, at least one in a week, but it has to have some connection with my waking life (as all dreams propably do).
As to how I would define a nightmare… It is a dream during which I am afraid of everything and everyone. A dream where everything bad I come to think of happens. Usually I am constantly running, not from anything in particular, just to find even more fear.
This popped in my mind - Has anyone read LeGuins “A Wizard Of Earthsea”? The wizard runs away from a shadow which he spawned and eventually stops running and conquers it. This is true to dreams as well, if you keep getting chased, you just stop, confront the thing and it will propably not come again. It has happened to me, I got the idea of conronting the thing from the book. It got away, but now I run from nothing.
my nightmare is usually the same thing everytime i have one. Im on death row, but im wrongly accused and i get taken to the electric chair and get fried. Im not sure what this means. but that is usually the only nightmare ive had. Ive had this one about 4 times.
I usually never have nightmares but earlier this year I did. I was in this dark room and for some reason there was this huge truck in the middle of it. I was standing there with my mum and we were chatting. Suddenly A couple of spiders crawl out of the underneath of the truck. Mum runs up and she squishes them. suddenly more start coming out and start running right towards me. I start screaming and trying to stomp on them but the start crawling oon me any way 
. I can feel them in my mouth and its really gross. It was really wierd because im not even afraid of spiders…?? 
i once had this nightmare that we were driving down this hill and the breaks got cut, we were going 200kmph and i was really scared, i decided to do a rc just incase and i was dreaming.
i woke up prettymuch straight away but it was so cool
