I don’t think he will necessarily regret it Although, I can rarely get long LD’s so if he can stay 30 minutes lucid, that’s already great! Plus, it’s usually easier to remember LD’s than NLD’s since you were conscious. Anyway, I always get mad at myself when I wake up on purpose. It only seems like a good idea in the dream
And about confidence, I agree. Though I see it as much deeper than that. Like emotional confidence…
Usually when we tell ourselves something like “I am 100% confident that I will get a LD tonight!” there’s a tiny (some times 99% unconscious) part of us that gets ready to get frustrated the next morning. As if you think in the back of your mind “just in case I don’t get lucid, I will feel this: frustration/disapointment/anger”. So I would wake up after no LD’s and if I was feeling frustrated it meant I didn’t do the whole confidence thing right! I guess it’s confidence but also not demanding too much, if it doesn’t work, that’s ok. If you can truely feel this calm confidence before bed it will increase chances a lot! Not sure if that made much sense though…
I strongly recommend wiring each morning in the DJ. It is the most effective tool for beginners, and not only. I started with writing in the DJ and as far as I can remember, yes I got my first LD in less than a month. Using it even further for a whole year, the DJ even gave me lucidity sparks each night. But then I ran into the trouble of not know which was a LD or FLD. I believe that do be a personal case, as most people don’t have many FLD’s in their lives.
So, I suggest you start writing in the DJ. Once you get to feel how it’s like to be lucid and thus you gain some experience, you can jump into even harder ways of achieving lucidity: methods. (Especially WILD and DEILD).
I gave up using the DJ due to lack of time for writing in it. That was around december last year when I began looking for other, quicker ways for having LD’s. Now I’m into methods (DEILD especially), which is, I have to say, pretty hard to achieve. (Worked after 3 months of practice.)
Anywaaays, as I’m beginning to slip off the subject, I really think you should read this. It’s where I stared off a year ago .
Good luck !
Hmm i read a book on the purpose of WBTB. I think you do it to delay the REM period, so when you go back to sleep the brain just jumps back to it. But guess everyone is different.
Wow some people get LDs after just a few minutes of WBTB, they are lucky
Thanks everyone been great help

Thanks for the link i read it and i think i should spend a bit more time on my dream journal lol alot of what it said is true, normally when searching i would skip the Dream journal section.
Thanks for the help ill start on some of the advice right up and see how it goes
Hmm i was wrong. I listened to avalinah and only stayed up for just 2 minutes before going back to sleep + MILD. I had one of the most vivid LDs i ever had. My eye dream eye sight was better than my real life eye sight. However is lasted only 5 minutes before i woke up naturally. I don’t know what happened. The dream was completely stable.
seriously? well i’m happy for you! sounds like success
yup thx bro, i dont have to stay up for 3 hours anymore
