I don't think I'm doing WILD right

I’m fairly new to lucid dreaming and I’ve tried a few methods that are pretty similar to the MILD method of getting your body used to reality checking in the day so you do it in your dreams but this has so far been unsuccessful.
However, I have literally just attempted my first serious WILD and I know you will all say it didn’t work because it’s my first time or something but it was kinda weird for me so hear me out:

I started out like you’re meant to by lying completely still, I had my eyes closed and I resisted any urge to scratch or shift. After a few minutes or so I heard a couple of things, whether it was hallucinations or my family shifting in their sleep I don’t know but after that I got a weird sensation sort of like pressure in my head and an ache in my stomach. My heart was beating like really fast because I could feel it pounding against my mattress (I was lying on my front) and it was a little worrying so I shifted myself to send the rollover signal back to my brain and stopped trying to get into the dream. This worked and my heart was beating a little erratically for a few minutes before it settled again. During this I experienced no hypnagogic imagery, just the weird rushing sensation in my head.

I’d really appreciate it if someone could shed some light on this or give me some advice on how best to approach a WILD or any other lucid dreaming technique.

Cheers

Also I apologise, I realise I’ve posted this in the wrong forum and I don’t know how to move it so you’ll have to forgive me

Moved from Gathering. :dragon:

Hello Hawk, it’s nice you started with MILD and then tried to WILD.

For the erratic heart beats, I think you were a bit nervous. Despite that you went really far for a beginner. You should say calm and focus more on your mind than your body and don’t worry too much, keep your breath calm and constant, it will stabilize your heart beats.

Still I suggest you to keep trying in order to define which technique you get more successful, even if you don’t get a real LD. We can’t be sure how effective it is before you define how they work on you, since techniques “act” different for each person.

As for the wrong board, leave the topic there, I’m asking a moderator to fix it for you. Thanks and welcome.

You should also post a reply under “I’m new here topic” to introduce yourself.

Thanks that’s put a bit of light on the subject for me and thanks for moving this too, that’s extremely helpful

Hy Hawk!

Some dreamers suggest that erratic heart beat is also a HH. It makes you ask question, right?!

But I would say go for the WILD. Like Tggtt suggested, see which techs work better for you and stick to those but if you have time, patience and will experiment with WILD.

First of all you will experience pretty awesome stuff which you will not with other techniques, secondly on the road you might succeed and have a LD or 2 just with trying with a technique which is your second choice while maybe your primary technique won’t give you any LD’s at the time.

Thirdly, you might find WILD very easy and successful for yourself. That’s how it worked out for me at least. I was using techniques that were “MILD based” but was experimenting with WILD on the way. Couldn’t get it right for nothing but one day I had a breakthrough and now 90% of my LD’s are WILD.

So experiment, learn, enjoy! Good luck! :content:
