what if the DC are people that you know in real life. wouldnt that kind of discretit the theory that DC are other people in a dreaming state?
not saying that any of you are wrong because every one has diffrent brain waves and when in a sleeping state the brain waves would fall into a ceritan patteren so maybe ceriten people would have simmilar if not identical patterens so they could have shared dreams…ow my head hurts now
i cant spell dont kill …me just my evil chiwwawa from HELL !!! MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
am i off topic now…sorry
A mixture of people you know traits etc, or a reprensentation of them
It is possible it could be an exterior force, like some other dreamer, etc
Your subconscious, but a representation of something (kind of like #1)
I think I’ve dreamt of a dream god, depending on the definition, a hippie version of Jesus, some strange unicorn that could summon planets, and a bizzare killer chicken named ‘Chicken God’ (I don’t think he counts though)
Well, I know that shared dreaming can only be verified by giving info in a dream and checking it in waking life. But it will only work, if you have a successful shared dream with a person you know. With all the strict conditions: being in REM simultaneously, finding each other (not just creating a dream clone), avoiding random interference, remembering the dream. And the stupid experiment I was talking about was aimed to test to some extent, if some of the anonymous DCs wandering about are real. It cannot prove but can disprove. If it works, it is most likely caused by expectations, but you can do more valid testing to make sure. If it fails, you will at least know that there’s nothing to catch in this particular dream scene.
What if DC’s were little bits and peices of other’s personalities?
I wonder if my concious self exists in other people’s brains as well as mine. The brain that’s in front of this computer screen my only be my primary brain. Other people might be using this brain too.
Hmm I haven’t had a real lucid dream yet, so I probably can’t talk, but just remember how powerful the human mind is. I mean, we are capable of so much more then we actually realize, it’s amazing. I would assume DCs are just things created by our mind, maybe reflecting parts of ourselves, or maybe just their like the rest of our dream, because it’s what is being put together. They most likely react to the dream thing that way because how would you react if someone said you were in a dream? Of course, you’d think they were mad. The DCs are just reflecting your reaction. At least that’s what I think, but I haven’t had a lucid dream yet so I don’t know.
Very interesting topic, my own view on it is if Dc’s were really other ppl, real ppl, woaw then we all would be talented no person excluded with awsome telepathic powers. Then proving telepathy would be a childs game. Also I think Dc’s would then react a bit diff and would want more control in my dreams but also would influence my dreams more. Well, just my thoughts.
Coming out of a recent LD, I awoke with the ‘knowledge’ that all people you see in dreams are real people also dreaming, in a substantial meditative state or being represented by their higher selves (if they are not presently asleep or meditating, etc.)
Im not easy believer in anything. But I still feel like something ‘shared’ this knowledge with me. It made perfect sense on so many levels to me at the time that I cant begin to explain it. Its just something that feels correct now and I believe it.
But on another note, I would like to bring up a few things here.
I have had several LDs where I turned to the ‘DCs’ who were with me and asked them if they wanted to be lucid, or asked them if they were lucid already. (I dont know why I do it like this - as opposed to telling them they arent real or something - I suspect its to do with my knowing they are real somehow…)
They have always either told me ‘yeah youre right, im lucid now too’ - or ‘yeah im lucid already’. Theyve never looked at me strangely. Though sometimes they disappear soon after I point out the dreamstate they are in… which I think means theyve woken up…
I had an LD/OBE type thing the other night and somehow had my cat with me for part of it - holding her in my arms while I was hovering. It was the most vivid and longest LD Ive ever had… and I think perhaps bordered on and OBE - though Im not sure, as I never aim for OBEs… but the more I read about them, the more I think my LDs turn into them alot.
When I was wanting to look for something, I sent my cat back to her regular sleeping state somehow…
My DCs don’t seem to mind at all if I tell them it’s a dream. First LD I had I thought I had to prove to DCs that it was a dream. But DCs in my dreams really aren’t interested, I still let them know . They just tag along.
If you are talking about DC’s being any dream character you encounter in dreamspace, I would agree there are various types.
But to me, an SG isnt a DC. An SG is an SG.
What stirkes me as odd in that experiment of yours is that you dont seem to conclude that peoples reports may have been incorrect - whether they were false memories, misinterpretations or just plain untrue.
yes, true. It is accounts of ppls memories of dreams. And you can never prove if they are true or not. Hoever if more people have the same experiences, unconnected from each other, you can say there must be something there.
The definition of DC’s is (in the experiment then anyway) “characters that appear in your dreams” . So if your SG appears in your dream, then in that dream your SG is a DC.
Also, SG’s can appear as DC’s in the dream, like explora’s dream, where he is with his father, but it is his SG appearing like his father in the dream.
