Terrible example. I’m not doubting telepathy and things of the sort, but that game isn’t a very good example. Don’t you think that the game ‘The Floor is Lava’ is too simplistic - and the title the same - to be an example of telepathy? I do. Why don’t we call things like that child hood game, coincidental thinking combined with spread by word of mouth?
Maybe kids play this game because pretending the floor is lava is exciting/scary…same reason people go to see scary and suspensful movies.
instead of being scary, think of the possiblities. Like if the’re is someone you hate or don’t like and see on a regular basis, you could be a monster in their dream and then say something like “churros are good for killing!”. Then when you meet them that day, say the same thing. i bet they will freak out.
Our brains may not be fully researched by far just yet, but that doesn’t mean that telepathy is possible. Our brains have evolved through millenniums, constantly adjusting to the enviroment… by evolution telepathy or SD’s have not been neccessary for our survival or reproduction, therefore has not been developed by nature. It’s as simple as that. It’s a neat idea, ofcourse, but just not plausible.
OppNed : I know that argument , but why not ?
What use are dreams in general ?
Not for speaking about the chance to question reality and / or thinking about where we came from ?
Shatterspike : That make another reason to learn RCs and have LDs .
Both defend and attack
Do you understand how evolution works? Mutations occur and the mutations that are the most adept at surviving live on to create a better stronger race/species. While I agree that telepathy is not necessary to survive I doubt it would hinder one’s ability to survive. In fact it should make it somewhat easier, although in some cases I suppose it could cause insanity. But to say that something is not possible because it is not necessary is a ridiculous argument. The appendix is not necessary, but it’s certainly possible that it exists.
Now I’m not saying telepathy exists, (although I’m fairly sure it does, at least on some level) but the argument you use to conclude it doesn’t just makes no sense.
MoD is right. I mean, why do we have an appendix? another reason you just can’t conclude that is because maybe telepathy was there, it just went unrecorded. Maybe we will use it as a weapon in the future. Who knows?
The ability to share dreams would be a revolution. No need to create virtual reality anymore. It’s all here with great graphics and stuff
this happened to me: I had a very dear friend and there was lots of really important things that I wanted to tell. I didn’t know how so tried telepathy (not in dream). I wasn’t that serious about it and it was kind of a joke experiment. I read about some basic “techniques” and gave it a try. The next day this person wrote me an email telling about a dream she had (I did this at night). In her dream there was a giant colourful bird flying through the window and pickin her eys out. Okay, it’s not that fancy but funniest thing is that she started talking about all these things I was trying to tell. these were things that we had never spoken about and it freaked me out a little bit. I have to add that we were rarely in touch anyway and the timing of this happening felt a bit spooky.
Now this could happen anyway so it doesn’t really mean anything. still it’s funny to imagine the possibilities and play the what if -game altough you don’t really believe in it.
Hmm… I probably said that in all Beyond Dreaming and Philosofer’s Cloud’s topics already, but I believe in finetuning. If you think of something and a person mentions that, when you have an emphatic idea in your head and someone speaks it out, when you’re in danger and you mother/twin brother knows.
Maybe if we could master finetuning, or do it by accident, we could penetrate friends dreams.
The appendix and other ‘vestigial’ parts of our body have been useful in the past and can srill be useful to us now in certain circumstances. X3 The appendix won’t be used as a weapon. xD
EDIT: I forgot to say what it is. xDD It digested cellulose when humans ate more plants (Also why most of us have wisdom teeth) and it still produces a small amount of white blood cells.
I like to think that shared dreaming might be possible…to a certain extent…because of the number of times people have had the same dreams or had ‘psychic’ experiences. Although a lot of these will just be stories told for publicity or attention…a lot of them are believable.
I haven’t had any such experience…as of yet…and have no proof either way…but I’d /like/ to believe it. X3
hey, pistgurl, i think 3X was saying maybe we’ll use telepathy as a weapon,
The movie, Dreamscape has SDs in it. It shows that when a person dies in a dream they die IRL and at the end someone tries to assassinate the president in his dreams. kind of old so the FX aren’t that great but I like the movie
Let me quote Bill Hicks: “Today a young man on acid realized that all mater is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.”
Okay, lets say that this was true. We are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. That means that we actually could “visit” each “others” dreams becouse, in fact, were all in the same dream but just in different places in it - lenght, width, height, would not exist at all in the dream so one cant even imagine exactly where one might be in it and of course it would be hard as **** to find each other. This theory is of course deeply metaphysical and can neither be proven nor unproven.
I don’t mean to be argumentative, but really! You mean to say that I am not allowed to simply say that I haven’t decided one way or the other about something, but am waiting for more information before I decide?
I am neither skeptical nor gullible, but I choose to wait until I have what I consider sufficient empirical experience to come to a conclusion. Should I, after repeated experience be unable to reproduce the experience, I will likely say, well, for me it hasn’t worked thus far. That doesn’t mean that my experience is the law for all others. It simply would mean I can’t do it. If I meet a couple of people who claim to have done it, I would conclude that they may have actually done so or not. However, until I can get into their heads, I will not be able to conclusively prove which is true.
So, thorough scientists looking at similar situations would not conclude, “no, it’s not possible”, but rather “I have no conclusive evidence that it is possible.” There is a difference between those two statements.
SOrry for being pedantic, but hey, I object to people telling me I must think either one way or another when I see a third alternative.

is it possible to think there is a persons dream world behind a door then walk through the door and your in that persons dream? basicly its forced shared dreaming but dont lock please
It’s possible to think so, but I don’t think that it’s possible to do it.
darn i did see that in the homepage stuff though…wheres the creator of this site?
lol…i should have actully looked i just noticed the "can you really penetrate into your freinds dreams thread"sorry guys wont happen again
until you can scientiffically prove me wrong im a beliver!
