Yeah ussually I fall suddenly. I think it could be related to a lot of nightmares I’ve had with falling. also I have flown but never lucidly so It was about as enjoyable as walking around my house.
I have never had trouble doing anything in a dream really, including flying. I just think about it and go, just as I would to walk around or do anything else. After all, flying in a dream is really no harder than walking, as you aren’t actually doing it. if you just remember this and believe this, it should be easy.
I’m sort of the same way. Last night in an LD, I wanted to go somewhere, and flew wtihout hardly thinking of it. It was kind of weird, I jumped into the air and sort of floated the rest of the way.
i had my first real flight last night, his was my 5th lucid dream and first getting outside and attempting to fly, i just ran out my back patio towards the yard and jumped like 300 feet or so in the air it was so amazing! i knew it was a dream so i wasn’t scared at all and then i just decided to swoop down and show off to a bunch of people but when i was low it was harder to fly i was kinda flapping and stuff and it was working i would prefer to fly like superman ya now without any real body movements… regardless it was very fun.
I never really had a problem with flying, but the dream does fade when i get too into it. they say keep yourself calm to keep it from fading but doesn’t that kind of suck that you can’t embrace the feeling in its entirety. its like going on a roller coaster and not being able to scream or put your arms up. i read this one LD where the guy flew alongside a train and over canyons and basicly had a pretty full experience, so it is possible.
Try flying like superman, you’re arm pointing straight out in front of you.
It’s hard but try not too think too much about it. Just jump forwards, believing that you’ll fly, and it’ll happen (sounds easier than it is, but believing is the key).
Yea, flying can be really easy if you get used of it.
I learned just to make myself fall forwards. I insisted, that if in RL i would fall onto my face, i’m sure that it’s a dream and i can start to fly before i end up on my face. So far it has worked very well, althought in few first times i nearly touched the grownd
You must be sure that in dream you can fly, and then you will fly. Also you need to keep yourself peaceful, so you will not get too exited, or worried when you start to fly
Good luck!
i’ve recently become really interested in lucid dreaming after watching Waking Life (great movie). I achieved a really intense experience yesterday. I think i inadvertantly used the WILD technique. I’m a freshman at Carnegie Mellon and my first class is at 8:30-9:20 and then I don’t have anything until 1:30. So I go to sleep after being awake for an hour. So, yesterday I dreamt that I woke up and saw my clock digits going randomly, so knew I was dreaming. Once I realized this, I started floating very very slowly towards the door to my room. Then other things happened
ANYWAY, today when I took my morning sleep, I became lucid and wound up in a big open feild. First, I looked up at the sky, but it was completely normal. Bright blue with a few nice clouds. And then I tried to jump into flying, but all i experienced was a great decrease in gravity. I still fell to the ground. I tried jumping and then flapping my arm/swimming. I tried using the superman technique. None of them kept me in the air.
Any suggestions?
Wellcome to the insane ninja forum of LD4ALL!!!
But about the flying. Prehaps you should concentrate less on the tecnique and just fly. Im nopt a flyer:P but try to just fly.
Flying is my all time favorite thing to do in a dream.
I didn’t know how to fly either to be 100 % honest, but I did it on my first try. I was in my mothers room and I told my self I was going to fly.
So, I sprinted at the wall at full speed and dived into it. I went right through the wall and was flying, I was flying at the speed I was going when I dived.
To speed up I just imagined a force pulling/pushing on me. Sort of like my shoes had thrusters.
It was an odd feeling at first but now I can fly as easily as walking, all I do is jump and I’m flying. At first flying was really shaky, like I was a plane taking off, because that’s what I was imagining.
Later I just imagined the force being something like from a luxury car and now my flight is smooth as can be, it’s quite enjoyable.
I’ve merged a lot of topics about flying troubles and learning to fly. Now it makes a big Learning to fly topic!
I merged yours into it so you can find more tips.
i always had problems remaining in the sky once i took off…shortcuts deffinatly help. once i thought of having jet powered shoes i was really zooming around…another time i tried riding a flying dog…not as effective…hahaha
First time I tried to fly in a LD I tried the superman technique 'cos he makes it look so easy. It didn’t work.
I finally managed to take off from the ground by believing that I would levitate and then I got higher by swimming through the air. I got up to twelve feet off the ground.
The key is to believe. I was always skeptical of supermans flying technique. It’s clearly got more to do with smoke and mirrors and clever filming than actual flight.
Silly superman.
I have had 4 LD so far and in all the previouse ones I could only get off the ground a few feet before I fell but last night I tried flying a different way (other than the standard superman style) with my hands at my side(Like Neo) and by imagining energy coming out of my feet and I was able to fly at extreme speeds which was a rush in it self but I found the main rush the fact that I could “Feel” this energy rippleing from the soles of my shoes.
Hi guys!
Although i’m an absolute ld-noob i discovered a method that worked perfectly for me in my ld no.2:
I’m standing on a skyscraper and would like to jump over to the next skyscraper which is quite far away. At this moment i remember a cartoon series which i enjoyed very much as a child, “inspector gadget” (i think there’s a movie too with mr. broderick). And the next thing i do is summon that cool hat-helicopter-thing on top of my head. It’s got two handles to grip and makes a funny noise (like a lawnmower) – and it works perfectly! In fact, it has such a power that i’m above the clouds in a jiffy!
Maybe that can help sby
