Polyphasic Sleep and Lucid Dreams

The problem with polyphasic sleeping is that while it allows your mind to reprocess memories, it doesn’t allow your brain cells to recharge. That recharging process occurs during deep sleep. You won’t notice the problems for a while though, but sure enough your brain cells are becoming exausted, eventually becoming damaged. It’s like alcohol I guess. Just not worth it in the long run.

Well, after just one week, my friend has thrown in the towel and returned to a normal sleeping routine. His problem was that he sleeps too deeply, and more often than not, his alarm simply wasn’t waking him up at the end of each 30-minute nap. This apparently becomes less of a problem when your body adjusts to the routine, but for the first few weeks, it can be pretty disastrous. He was late for work a couple of times, and decided that it just wasn’t worth it. Though he does intend to try it again next time he has a few weeks of free time.

Has anyone else tried it? Were you able to stick to it for longer than a week?
