Whenever I am having a fever and trying to sleep, I get this very real nightmares. I can’t really snap out of it.
This night I suddenly found myself walking in my living room, no idea how I ended up there. Sometimes I wake up and can’t really be sure if I am awake or not. This night was really bad, my girlfriend was shocked to find me sitting in a couch, covered in sweat, laughing out loud and cursing someone for giving me these nightmares. However, I can’t remember any of it.
I can never remember the nightmare, I tried to explain them to people many times but at the moment I wake up I forget what it was, but everytime it’s the same nightmare.
Is it normal to have this in fever situations? Anyone has similar experiences?
Although, I didn’t have a nightmare, at least that I can remember. I did say things out loud like “I’ll be fine, this is all real”… I might have sayed more and not remember, I was alone… I believe it was a very high fever.
So I guess fevers can do some crazy things to our mind…
When I start to sleep with a fever, I get to see normal things but they really scare me.
I also see abtract lines and pictures which also frighten me.
(One night I was scared because there were two oranges and the bigger orange was rolling faster than the smaller orange)
Ah delirium, isn’t it wonderful. I had the strangest fever dreams this summer, for a couple of weeks I had the same dream/hallucination every night. I’m in bed and I wake up, or have a false awakening. I have this strong sense of forboding and I can’t explain it. Then I notice that there’s something odd about the room, the perspective is all wrong, as if there’s been some subtle change in the angles of the room. Then I see a figure in the corner of the room, he is in an almost foetal position, and surrounded by a sickly light, his hair was lank and hung down and I never saw his face. That was it though, he just sort of floated there in the corner, watching me. I would try to turn on the bed side lamp but it would flicker for a second and then die leaving only a faint orange glow along the filament of the bulb.
I had this dream every night for two weeks dozens of times each night, it got to the point where the moment I woke up I would hit the light, if it worked, I knew I was really awake.
I did also wake up a couple of times standing on the end of my bed, looking in to the corner where the apparition had been in the dream. At these times I was somewhat aware of the fact that I had been talking, or at least rambling incoherently!
every night for two weeks!? wow! I’d lose my mind!
Although, it would be nice to, everytime you get scared or feel like you’re in danger, do a RC, automaticly. That way we could avoid completely these freaky nightmares. I guess.
Then again, if you find that you are awake you just wasted some precious running time looking at your hands or whatever…
I don’t really think LD would help in situations like these. When I wake up from a fever nightmare and KNOW I am awake, I still can’t shake that fear, I run around, I do pushups, hell I had sex even, and after the fear is still there. It goes away through the day. It’s really kinda “real”
If I have a fever, my dreams are very vivid, scary or just odd…When I had surgery and was on a painkiller, my dreams were very surreal I hated taking them though, and tried to not.
A couple of fevers come to my mind. One time, whenever I closed my eyes I was tunneling endlessly like a mole, even without being fully asleep. It was real frustrating being stuck underground, constantly digging away infront of me.
Another time, I was lying in bed, but fully awake with open eyes, when my small room started filling with tiny human skeletons, piling up around the bed, and then charging at me and attacking me, and still more coming until they were even coming at me from the ceiling. I was screaming and kicking, and my mother came to my room, and eventually calmed me down and the skeletons wen away. It was a long time ago, so I can’t remember if it was just the once, or many times. It was bloody scary
