I had a small LD where I looked up to the sky. It was really beautiful. It was really bright and darkish blue. I could feel the sunlight coming in from it. There were white clouds which were GLOWING white light all around. It was awesome! 
Last night I watched the sky, I was looking for a friend of mine to try shared dreaming, and she was at a odd corporate building that floated on the sky, I looked to see the building, the sky was really clean, with no clouds. Anda a greyish blue, about as bright as a little after the sunset. Then, at the building, one of the walls was mostly glasses and windows, so I could see a someway bright night sky, a little brightier than ld4all background.
off-topic: in the sharing, she told me a ‘password’: to go to the cinema today. She lives another town, I just told her she said that in my dream, and she said she dreamed about being in a cinema. 
The sky in my lucid dreams always looks very life like. Sometimes it will be blue sky with a few traces of clouds, other times without. Whatever the weather it always corresponds to real life weather in terms of realism.
i think it might be that you expect the sky to be pretty,but you dont know what exactly “pretty” is, you only know that something is pretty or isnt. so you tell your mind that it must create something, but you (and thus your mind) dont know what to create. so it just turns up gray or black etc.
When I looked at the sky, It was white and purple gasses swirling and jetting into another. It was pretty awesome looking.

I made my sky psychedelic and beautiful once by using my powers and pure will. Will is more important than anything in dreaming (with the possible exception of being asleep)
I’m not sure about my LDs, since I haven’t had many, and they’ve mostly been low-level, but the one I do remember was a bright, sunny day with blue sky and a few white clouds. My skies tend to be normal, as I’ve had plenty of night skies with normal stars before. Well, just lots of stars. Though I do remember one non-lucid dream in which the sky was like a lot of big mirrors and from one viewpoint I could see about 11 or 12 moons… and of course that was only about a 1/5 of the sky I could see. Maybe the next time I have an LD I can work on those skies… 
sorry to hear that, my sky is very blue with white clouds. That’s the way I like it in the waking world.
Well in my first LD i remember the first thing was to look up when i got outside.
It was blue and withe clouds, pretty normal. However the light of the sun was weird. It was like when we had the full solar eclipse here in 1997. It was like then, only with no moon to block the sun. It was pretty cool.
My skies are fairly normal, much like in RL. Occasionally however, the sky is Bright Red with yellow clouds, which is quite stunning. For some reason, I’ve never thought of changing the color of my skies.
Most of the skies I saw in my dream were really pretty. IT was like blue but with silver sprinkles as well. One dream though it was night time so the sky was pretty grey/dark. I never tried to change it though.
I dunno, but usually looking away and back is enough for me. As it is, the sky usually starts out very nice looking, which is often what clues me into the fact that I am dreaming.
In one LD i woke up by commanding the sky to become more “starry” 
since it was pitch black.
otherwise, the sky has been pretty normal in my dreams, even in lucid ones, some stars here and there in nightscapes, but nothing more; guess i’ll have to experiment a little bit ^^
I know this is an old topic, but since there’s a link to it in the guide, I guess people still read it.
Anyway, whenever I want something, I ask a DC. It always helps. The conversation would be something like this:
Me: Hey, you’re the guy who can change the sky!
DC: Yes, that’s me! They always anwser with a yes!
Me: Then make it prettier, with huge planets and rainbow-colored stars (and whatever you want there to be…) I want it to be done when I look up.
DC: Okay!
When I look up, the sky is awesome. But since I have a fear for weird dream-skies (don’t ask me why), I never do this. However, I use this technique for a lot of other things. I can ask, for example, for wings, the shortest way to the sea, and anything else!
I’ve had some very nice skies…and some that were boring. But, the skies that were pretty was when I expected it to be breath-takingly beautiful. So, I’d say expect it to be nice:P. If it’s not to your liking then be creative. Imagine what you see as pictures, and flip through them like how you flip through stuff on ipods haha. Just be imaginative! 
Mine are usually black with stars , and I’m usually like , and sometimes I flew up up and away, because I want to reach those stars! 
I haven’t really looked at mine since I learned to LD but out of the corner of my eyes one of them was very blue. I also had a dream when I was a kid and the sky was at night but their were rainbows and stuff, I remember it being very beautiful.
In my second or third LD the sky looked like a watercolor painting (mixed from purple, yellow and the shades of orange) with stars… But mostly it’s very dull (blackish or light blue) :\
