Well, I was going to try to become lucid again last night. I was doing some MILD until I was sick of saying it over and over. When I turned over to go to bed, lucidity was still in my mind, so I was pretty excited and confident it was going to work. Well, it didn’t. I even repeated some stuff about also recalling my dream, which was a pretty long repetition, but I got use to it. I wake up around 7:30 maybe… trying to go back to sleep. Wake up at around 12:30, kinda disappointed I can’t remember any of my dreams. I’m just really disappointed it didn’t work, cause I was reading about lucidity for like… 4-5 hours straight…I was just hoping I could get some advice that would help me reach lucidity a little easier.
If you can’t remember at least one dream per day, LaBerge says you should practice your DR before atempting an LD. you might have had one, but maybe you couldn’t remember it.
Lets say you are trying to touch your toes, and you can hardly bend your waist forward, so you just dangle there for 5 minutes, and you are a bit closer.
Did you fail, or did you succeed?
If you just focus on the practice, the method, then the method gets strong, and each day is a victory, and then, lucidity is putting frosting on the cake.
[contrary to what many may think, just dangling like that is a fine method for being able to touch your toes and eventually put your hands flat on the ground]
I find that although the quantity and level of my recall fluctuates wildly (just since I started DJ’ing, I’ve had a night with one long dream, nights with several smaller ones, nights with just a few fragments, and 4 medium-length ones last night), once I think about it a bit I can alwasy remember something. Don’t give up and think that you can’t remember last night’s dream, because then you won’t!
My advice regards MILD is not to bother if it annoys you - it may not be the technique for you. I find that after repeating the phrase for a while, I start to make mistakes in it, and then notice that I’m falling asleep and refocus it without the mistakes so it’ll be in my head when I do go to sleep. Once your DR is up to the right level, maybe start “criticising” every ND you write down, so eventually you’ll do that in a dream and become lucid?
I know the feeling… just let go -practice for a few days, it will work soon or later.
also do a reality check right now, you have to have the feeling of HEY IS THIS A DREAM? and hold onto that feeling .
when you do it remind yourself first what will happen if you are dreaming
i closed one eye and looked at my nose, then, the other
then i told myself “now remember i can inhale, and when i plug my nose, if i can still inhale that manes i’m dreaming”
and i do it a few times.
