3 Issues I've been having with my WILD attempts.

Hello everyone
After about a week of no LD’s, I was getting really fed up. so this morning I set my alarm for 7:00, woke up, and then attempted to WILD back into dreaming. It worked this time, and the first dream (and issue) I had was of me sitting on a giant pool table XD. Anyways, there were some other dream characters there (from what I can remember, they all seemed like big, hulking bully people :meh: I was happy to finally have a WILD, because I hadn’t had one all week, but it was so weak that it was almost like looking at a 2-d picture. I figured that if I ran around like crazy and touched stuff, It would stabilise. But it wasn’t getting any stronger, and it was hard to move in the dream without waking up completely (as it was, I couldn’t feel my dream body at all and every time i tried to look at something, or touch something, my real eyes would flicker and ruin it.) So it was like this for a while, until I ran at this huge mirror on the wall opposite to me. I ran at it, and for a split second, everything stretched into proportion. I’ts really hard to describe soo… imagine you are trying to WILD. at the point you are at, everything is 2-D. You can still feel your real body very well, but in the dream you can’t feel anything. Then imagine that, out of the blue, everything becomes 3-d, you can all of a sudden not feel your real body but feel everything in the dream. It’s like watching a movie, and then actually going into the movie. That’s the best I can describe it. You would think that it’s a good thing, that it means that your’e crossing the threshold between being awake and being in a dream. It is a good thing, but it’s so out of the blue and suprising that it actually ends up shocking me out of the dream completely. It’s really dissapointing, knowing that you were right there, at the edge of a good dream  Anyone know how to not get so shocked the next time? It’s happened 3 or 4 times now.

The other issues I'm having are:

When I try to WILD, I get very vivid HI. But my eyes will move and right when I’m about to go into a state of dreaming, it’ll weaken everything and mess it up :grrr: I get the whole REM thing, but does anyone know how to stop your physical eyes from moving until your’e sucsessfully into a dream?

When I do WILD, a lot of the time it’s very, very weak, and no matter how much stabilising i try to do it just dosnen’t work very well. Anyone know how to enter a little stronger?

I would be really thankful for any help :content:

Hi polymorph

One thing about WILD, at least in my experience, is it usually gives the least stable dreams, especially when you are first starting out. It seems to be a fine line because if you do too little your RL body takes over, and if you do too much you can snap out of the dream. Rubbing hands has been the best stabilizer for me. I’ve also gone so far as to slap myself just to get some feeling into my dream body.

As for the clarity of that dream, it can vary some, all depending on how late you slept, if you were waking up etc. In general, shouting “increase vividness now” can help. You can also try a few more passive things like putting on a pair of glasses and other things like that.

When you get HI, it’s easy to want to look around at it. In many cases, your conscious mind thinks something is there and then unconsciously moves the eyes to follow whatever they are seeing. There isn’t much of a right answer to this one other than practice.

And to your final point, WILD has always given me my weakest LD’s. Over time it has gotten better, though, and I’ve learned that it also depends on how long I’ve slept. If I do WILD about 4-6 hours after going to bed (and I can get it to work ), it tends to be more stable. Later on, at about the 7-9 hour mark it’s much easier to do but the dreams are generally less vivid and much shorter since my body is naturally trying to wake up.

I hope all of that helped :content:

Glad to hear you had a WILD!

I’d say that if you get surprised like this, try to relax and rub your hands while taking in what is happening around you. It also helps to shift the idea that you’re dreaming to the back of your head so you aren’t dwelling too much on it, but you still realize you’re lucid. You almost have to push the thought to your subconscious.

Just relax your eyes. If they move on their own, let them. Don’t tense up or resist, and don’t focus your attention to it.

I’d recommend rubbing your hands, or even rub your arms the same way you would if you were cold. You can also try picking up things around you and briefly observing them. Another way is to try focusing your vision from object to object around you. Another way that has worked for me is to yell “INCREASE CLARITY!”. I’ve also heard spinning in circles helps. As for entering in a stronger state, I find it’s hard to enter WILD in a strong state. Usually the state starts out weak but you just have to deepen yourself into the dream through stabilizing.

Like I said before, I find it really helps to not totally focus on the fact that you’re dreaming, but stay lucid. If the environment you’re in doesn’t feel very stable, you can try visualizing a very vivid and comfortable environment and let it form around you.

Thank you both very much for the info!!
I think another problem was that I was only trying to stabilise the dream for a little while. guess it takes a long time. I’ll try to keep it in the back of my head that I am dreaming, I think that will help also. I do try to DILD, those are always the best  but I have terrible recall, so I might have had 3 DILDS last night and I am completely oblivious now -.- anyone have any tricks for improving recall? I try to do a runthrough of my entire day before i go to sleep, I don’t know if it helps or not.
