Some of u might know that im a constant LD’er from previous posts ive made. But i realized something last night in my LD. i was driving a boat around and got bored so i flew back to the dock and saw some friends of mine, like RL friends and for a split second thought that maybe im not dreaming. THen realized i was dreaming again, but what i did is I went up to my friend and said, Am i dreaming?? they replied, yes u are.
So for everyone that has troubles LD’ing, ask the people in ur dreams this Am i dreaming? if you are im almost possitive they will tell u that you are.
I believe that depends on how often you LD, mine tell me I’m in real life, but I don’t LD but two or three times a month. So maybe over time your mind gets used to LDing, and no longer bothers trying to tell you that you aren’t. Sounds good for regular lucid dreamers though.
I don’t think that would work as a good RC… People IWL might give you funny looks if you weren’t dreaming…
Well in all of my LD my DC tell me. I am dreaming.
But what if it is not a LD but a SD ?
I’d rather ask what if DC’s will tell you that you are NOT dreaming.
I asked some random people about it in dreams, but olny when I was pretty sure that I was dreaming. Most of times they said that I was dreaming, but sometimes they avoided reply (when I was starting to learn LDing).
Whole idea is pretty right, as long you are dreaming. If you are not, well…
I find that more often than not, in a LD, my DC will tell me I’m not dreaming. I find it difficult to convince them.
My DCs are very incooperative, too. I recall a dream one of them was doing a RC (it’s a pity I haven’t done one myself-.- usually I always do when I see someone doing a RC). And he said that he came to the conclusion that he was not dreaming. If he’s not dreaming, neither do I…that’s what I thought.
I also remember another dream when I told a DC about lucid dreaming and he did not remind me of doing a RC
I’ve had several DC’s disagree with me when I say its a dream. So I don’t bother asking.
I’ve also tried to get recurring DCs to help me get lucid, they say they will, but they don’t
I believe most DCs will do what you expect them to do.
Some DCs have a mind of their own. (This doesn’t mean they are definitely other people, just that your mind has different sub programs/awareness)
ya it think it just depends on the person, and the dream actually. In my second LD i asked my dad if i was dreaming and he said no (but i just knew he was only a DC). In my third i told my friend i was dreaming and he said “cool!”
no no. they will tell u yes if u are dreaming, see what u guys are doing, is ur not too sure if ur dreaming or not, Since ur able to controll ur dreams, that small more logical side of, why would i be dreaming is making them say no. just be as possitive as possible and im sure they will say yes.
When i ask them, positive as I am i’m dreamin, they always tend to give a vague answer like ‘maybe’ or ‘I don’t know’
But if you’re that positive, why is there any need to ask them in the first place? Based on the many remarks I’ve seen here over the years, I get the feeling that DCs are historically unreliable when it comes to this sort of thing. They say what they want to say. There are much better RCs out there. This may work for some, but I doubt it would work for most.
normally if i just come across the thought that i might be dreaming i become lucid and im like “HAHA IM LUCID AND I DIDNT EVEN HAVE TO DO AN RC”
then i fly around and do dream stuff
I usually dont have to many DC but I have randomly had them tell me I’m not dreaming. Usually I just say “Yes I am” and walk away, but they have almost convinced me I was awake before.
I’m not sure about this. In one of my LDs, the DCs were convinced that I wasn’t dreaming. They thought that I was mad.
I would add that a lot of people have trouble convincing the DC that they are DCs ! Even when the dreamer is totally aware of being dreaming.
So, yeah it really depends on the person, and other stuff.
I agree with sno here. For the most part, dream characters can be very unreliable when it comes to asking them about the nature of the dream. I’ve had mixed results when it comes to dream characters; on one occasion one had smiled and nodded when I asked them if I were dreamining, while on another occasion I found it nearly impossible to convince a DC that we were in a dream. It’s fine to talk to dream characters once you’re lucid, but I wouldn’t rely on it as a reality check.
Good point.
I’ve had that experience on a few occasions, although a good deal of the time I am only suspecting that it is a dream; that’s where the reality check comes into play.
Whenever i shout in excitement that im lucid dreaming while talking to dream characters they just nod in agreement with w/e i say :-\
When I say to a DC ‘hey this is a dream!’ they look at me like I’m crazy with a ‘yeah right’-face. I always try convincing them by showing a RC failing but they never believe me
