What if, while going to sleep, you had no intention of keeping yourself aware, but still had a WILD, because you sort of ‘caught’ yourself falling asleep. Some people here have said that they have had one or more ‘accidental’ WILDs. So I’m guessing that these accidental WILDs were slightly less tiring to do than ones that you have on purpose.
So if we were to try to have an ‘accidental’ WILD, would we succeed more often? Tonight, try to go to sleep normally, but with the intention to wake yourself up internally in 5-10 minutes. If this were to work, then if you were to wake yourself up, and you happened to be halfway into SP, then that would be more than half the work of thring to WILD gone! You would need to know how long it takes you to go to sleep on a normal night, so that you would know when to ‘catch’ yourself falling asleep. Does this make sense? Try this tonight, and post what happens on this thread.
You would probably fall asleep 75 percent of the time. The thing about WILD is that it is going to be very hard at first, but over time it will get much easier and before you know it, it will be as easy as falling asleep. Its been a long time since my recent return to WILDing and lucid dreaming, but it just seems logical.
As for your technique it could very well work but I couldn’t try it if I wanted to. It usually takes me half an hour to fall asleep anyway, so starting using “original” WILD suits me.
I am also interested in the results if anyone tries it, do tell.
I’ve had a few of these accidental WILD’s
I wake up in the middle of the night and try to WILD. But usually I’m just half awake. I guess I fall asleep for a few seconds and then “Hey, HI!” and then WILD from there…
Still, 25% success is AWESOME! I tried it last night, but alas, I fell asleep. Has anyone else tried this yet?
I’ve had a slightly different thought: what if you don’t have any intention to fall asleep? Just read a book in bed until you can hardly keep your eyes open and try to remain awake as long as possible.
