A way to lock in to lucidity

I’m getting used to lucid dreaming, and have one about once a week. It’s not the getting lucid part that gets me, it’s the staying lucid. I get lucid, but once I realize I’m dreaming, I can feel my body in my bed, which makes the dream stop after about 15 seconds. What do I do?

Im no expert, but try doing things like rubbing your hands together or spinning. If this doesnt work for you, another good one is too pay attention to your surroundings. Look at them in great detail, this will cause your subconcious to have to process more objects (therefore keeping your mind focused on the dream). Try not to think of your waking state at all, this will usually wake you up.

The rubbing hands thing and the spinning thing seem not to work for me at all… last time I had an LD (a few days ago) everything was fine UNTIL I started rubbing my hands and spinning. Then the dream just faded away and I hoped that when I opened my eyes I would still be in the dream, but instead I opened them and saw my friends room (where I was sleeping).I think I got too worked up about it maybe… I still have the feeling that if I would just have taken it easy and fly like I first wanted to (and instead I decided to rub my hands!) I would have been able to “keep” the dream.

I think you should do things which make you more involved in the LD, like flying, etc. Just a supposition though cause I haven’t had such a problem.

try focusing upon your heart while thinking about falling into a very deep sleep … stop when you feel sufficiently in the dream, but before you lose lucidity.

I’ve tried all the tricks, but that’s not the problem. I have no problem on paying attention to the dream, but my problem is not paying attention to the outside.

dont close your eyes when you spin

Spinning and hand rubbing do work pretty well for most people, but you should also find that this problem goes away of it’s own accord once becoming lucid becomes less of a big deal. It’s always quite exciting to become lucid even when you’ve had hundreds of lucids, but you will eventually reach a point where the excitement of realising you are lucid will not wake you and you can have some very long lucid dreams. It worked that way for me anyway.
Remember to always do a reality check when you wake from a lucid (or think you have) as false awakenings are really common at this point and if you catch one you can dive straight back in.

still not the problem. I’m trying to say that i can make the dream vivid and lucid, but i still feel my body, witch waters down the dream.
