Absolutely frustrated with WILDS!

Hullo everybody! This is my first post!!! :tulip: I am having a lot of trouble with WILDs! Last night, I tried a WILD for the 3rd time. I had 5-6 hours of sleep, mind you. I went through all of the usual things that are supposed to happen when you are on the verge of dreaming: Numbness of entire body, somewhat vivid HI, etc. About 1 1/2 hours of this, the HI was swirling and my heart was pounding (and I mean pounding! ). My heart went on like this for 30 seconds. My eyes flickered as if in REM, but they only did that 4 times and it was very little…then it stopped. I lay COMPLETELY STILL for about another 1 1/2 hours yet NOTHING HAPPENED!!! :bambi: I was thinking that maybe I got TOO excited (adrenaline probably got released) or maybe I was TOO conscious? What the heck is going on? :ack: What am I doing wrong? Thanx guys!!! :help:

It does sound like you became too alert. It’s a tough process. The key is to maintain an alert awareness, but also be extremely relaxed and let sleep take you away. This is easier said than done and takes tons of practice to learn. It’s worth the effort, though.

Ya, you’re right. I’m gonna continue with this. Hopefully I can still do it while in SCHOOL!!! I guess I was too alert…I need sleep to take me next time. Maybe I should go a level lower consious-wise?

Relaxation is the key. There are many techniques available if you are looking for something structured. Most forms of meditation would help as well.

Hi LDGirl! Welcome to the forum!

If you just tried three times, your results are incredibly good. It’s often longer to learn WILD. The heart and eyes things are very common, you just must not be disturbed by that. You were perhaps conscious too much. The main thing with WILD is you have to fall asleep and if you focus too much, you can’t.

Keep trying and good luck with your further attempts!

That exact thing happened to me last night. I even may have had sleep paralysis. I did remember my dream, and I became lucid in the very end, but I am so sure that WILD failed, I think it’s just a coincidence.

Hey guys! Thanx 4 the supportive opinions/comments. I also wanted to post b/c of my AWESOME quote (at the bottom of my post) from the movie “Gladiator” with the extremely HOT  Joaquin Phoenix and Russell Crowe!!! If you haven’t seen that movie, YOU NEED TO!!! Hehehe!!! :colgate:
Thanx again!

Beautiful quote…

WILD takes alot of effort. Although I believe it is teh coolest experiance for LDing, MILD is much easier adn doesnt take as much effort

Hey all!!! I just wanted to tell you that your info worked! I relaxed more this time…before I was TOO concious :content:. I just let sleep take me away. I didn’t have a LD for quite a few days and I REALLY REALLY wanted a LD. I think my really wanting it made it happen. I also think that the MILD tech. is working for me now. WORDS ARE REALLY POWERFUL. I did a MILD and (I think) a WILD. I had the coolest dream! It started out with me walking in a sort of old school. I remembered reading on this web site to be transported wherever you want by walking through a door and expecting the place you want to be on the other side. I said before I entered, “I want to go to the Grammys!” I entered an auditorium :eh: with movie stars. When I walked in, I saw Julia Roberts laughing and clapping at someone on the somewhat small stage. I walked up to the stage feeling GREAT! I saw JOAQUIN PHOENIX come over to me and I danced with him!!! He also sung “Walk the Line” (he plays Johnny Cash in an upcoming movie called “Walk the Line”…I’m MAJORLY THRILLED FOR THAT!)…anyways, he sung the song to ME in my dream! It was AWESOME! Then, I went non-lucid :bored:…darn…and had some WEEEIRRRD other dream after that. :content: I NEED TO SAY “I’M LUCID” and KEEP saying it my dream. That’s my only problem really…that’s maybe the reason WHY I went non-lucid. But MAN that was a KICK BUTT DREAM!!! :cool_laugh:   Thanks for the info again guys!!!

Waw! That’s great! Congrats for your lucid dream, LDGirl!
Now you should look for stabilizing techniques on the forum. Keep saying “I’m lucid” must work. There are other techniques, like looking at your hands when you feel the dream begins to transform, or when you feel you’re losing lucidity.

Good luck and all the best! :colgate:
