I was going to write some long, memory ridden post but, I’m not in that mood right now, so I’ll just shorten it.
One step at a time. That’s what is needed to master ld’ing. I can’t find the words to explain it in further depth, but if you have any questions, just ask away. I’m always up for helping newcomers.
Ok, well I found the convo that inspired me to post.
I edited out all the nonsense, people logging on and off and people poking me with sticks and soldats. >.>
Read and enjoy. It’s one of those rare times I’m able to find the words to explain what I’m thinking.
And also, to whatever mod moved this, I posted it in the pathways section because the log I was planning to locate and attach is a technique. It’s a way to achieve lucidity. I’m pretty sure that’s the section it belonged in.
Vitamins, medicines, music - and other things like DJ, reading forums, books, etc. - don’t give LD’s (unless you have a lot of chance). Too many people here focus on the side aspects of LD’ing. If they could focus on the actual LD induction techniques, they would have better results.
I know you’re talking about WILD, due to the title of your post. Now this is not true for DILD methods.
Anyhow, as you were talking about WILD, you’re right: for most of the people, WILD is difficult to masterize. I’ve tried for years without any results. I’ve just had two WILD’s until recently. Some days ago, I’ve got a third one and I was very glad cause it was my first OBE-like WILD. Thus, patience is essential, as you said.
Now just trying to WILD, by small steps, even if you don’t get results immediatly, is also interesting because of the curious hypnagogic effects. I think we can learn a lot from this.
As for me, I think the most important thing in WILD’ing is not to practice WILD when going to bed. People have to do this after a WBTB. BTW, LaBerge said that WILDs were more likely to be reached during the last hours of sleep than DILDs. Hence trying WILD when going to bed is the best way to go straight right towards failure and discouragement.
Yea, Wilding right when going to bed is difficult, i know. I tried for a LONG time, like a year, before I had even minimal success with it. But, it’s not impossible, just takes a tad bit more practice than wild+wbtb does.
I agree that is the best way to view it… I has helped me a lot.
Definitely. Although I agree that it is a process, if you do suddenly have an LD it can really help you. for example I had a spontaneous DILD and now I know what it feels like to be in an LD. I can look for that feeling whilst I’m WILDing.
All I could add really is that I found it helpful to read the techniques. As they gave me some ideas of things to try.
Reading accounts of WILD experiences also helped as they helped me to recognize when I had moved forward. (I think it is necessary to recognize this because you then might want to reach that stage and try to figure out the next step for you) I do think it is important to realize that not everyone will get all the steps… I got stuck for a few weeks because I was hell bent on seeing HI… I realized that I might not see it and that very night I had my first experience with SP.
This seems to be a technique centered around finding your best technique It works for me that’s for sure
